RE- What should I expect?
When you see them, what do they do? I have PCOS, well I was told that by my gynocologist, and I would like to see an RE now that I am off BC and want to TTC. My periods are irregular and I would like to just find out more about my body and my condition if I can. Do they give you an exam like my gynocologist does? I have a female gynocologist but all the RE's near me are male. I just want to know what to expect before I make the appointment. Is it just blood work and or do they give you a full vaginal exam or something else? Details please, I am stressing over this.

Re: RE- What should I expect?
try not to stress too much (yes i dont know why i dont take my own advice ) I live in queens and had trouble finding a reputable female RE. I found one but she ended up moving to westchester. I'm seeing a male one now and no problems.
I also have PCOS but it affects everyone differently. Right now we are waiting to see if I'm actually ovulating or if its a fluke. For my first few appointments, the RE did some bloodwork (on/around cycle day 3) and is monitoring with sonos during ovulation time.
If it turns out I didnt ovulate, we will try with an IUI next month. HTH!

Re: RE- What should I expect?
i was diagnosed with PCOS by my gyn based on my long, irregular cycles and my cyst filled ovaries.
When I went to RE, he did a lot of testing before we even started a medicated cycle so that we knew exactly what we were working with (since like pp said, PCOS is so different for everyone). I had a lot of blood work, an HSG to see if my tubes were blocked, and DH had a sperm analysis.

Re: RE- What should I expect?
First time we went it was exam- I had a sonogram of my ovaries done. Later that week I had blood drawn (liek 10 tubes- they were vampires!) then came back to discuss the results and was put on BCP. PCOS has only affected my cycle...but I haven't seen any other affects. I can gain weight VERY easily if I don't follow a strict diet and excercise.
I'm going back Monday to talk about TTC options...so we'll see what happens then. Probably more blood.
