name question...

I have a cousin who lives out of state who I see maybe 1 time a year (its been 2years since I've seen them now) we talk on fb but really that's it. His daughter is named one of the names were considering. Would you rule it out? Or no because your barely see them and really who cares!

i would...but that's just me. i don't want anyone i know personally to have the same name.

If it were a closer relative i would say yes but if you only see them once or twice a year i would say keep it as an option

Thanks ladies! I have quite a few others I like better but I know by dh likes the name and I immediately ruled it out. But hunk maybe I should be more open to it.

Would definitely NOT eliminate the name.

My cousin (who is not oos, but since she lives in Setauket, may as well be... I live in Queens ) has a Katherine and four years later, I named my DD Katherine. I don't see what the big deal is with a more popular or traditional name. Now if it was something more out-there and very original I'd probably feel a bit weird if the relation were close.

My mothers favorite name was always Elizabeth. Her cousin named his daughter Elizabeth. 5 yrs later she named me ELizabeth. We see them a few times a yr but it is no big deal

I would still consider it. In fact - similar happened to us - 6 weeks b4 dd was born a cousin in florida whom dh and I never see - but obviously others do - named their dd Chloe... we thought about reconsidering our name choice - but ultimately did not.

Till this day I am thrilled that we didn't. However I have no idea how they feel about it. We NEVER see them.

personally i would still consider the name.
i think that if its a name that you and DH like it doesnt matter who else picks it. at some point in DC's life they will prob. be around others with the same name anyway, so if you like it, go for it!

I would rule it out, but that's just me. There are a few names that we ruled out because it's our cousins or relatives and we wanted something different.

since its family i would prob not use the name....
if it were a friend, then i would use it.

is it your #1 choice?
