Clomid

Can your OBGYN prescribe this or do you have to see an RE?

Re: Clomid

Your OBGYN can, but you should be monitored on it. (CD3 and 10 sono and blood work)

My OBGYN prescribed it and was going to monitor me but my insurance required that I go to an actual RE. I was glad I did b/c my OBGYN office is very busy so I'm not sure I would have been shoved aside there.

Re: Clomid

When my gyn diagnosed me with PCOS, she said when I was ready to TTC, to come back and she would give me clomid.

I decided to see an RE and am sooo glad I did. REs are able to give you the specialized attention you need (depending on your condition of course)

Re: Clomid

i was prescribed clomid from an ob/gyn but immediately decided to see an RE because my ob/gyn gave me almost no information on what to do or when to come back.

IMO dont waste time with an ob/gyn on clomid unless they agree to monitor you very closely. its not worth the aggravation of no knowing whats going on. an RE's entire job is to watch your cycle, it makes a lot more sense to do any fertility meds through an RE.

Re: Clomid

IMHO I wouldn't start any infertility meds unless under the care of a RE.

Re: Clomid

I got mine from my GYN but I was monitored. So just because an OBGYN prescribes it isnt bad. Just make sure you are monitored. I did not feel like in any danger or not being watched when I was on it with my GYN

Re: Clomid

my obgyn gave me Clomid...it is not the same as going to a RE but for me i decided since all my tests came back "normal" i would try one round with clomid. i was not ovulating and having very long cycles so at least i can see if clomid regulates me. And it has! so far i am at 5DPO...if no BFP this month then off to a RE for me.

Re: Clomid

yes, your OB can prescribe it but from my experience, you really need to be closely monitored while on it. THat is when I made the decision to see an RE and they do monitor you closely, which my OB never did. good luck Chat Icon
