why me??

so after the whole heartache and disaster last week of deciding to find a new ob...I woke up early wed to find my right gum line all swollen up, no real pain but an umcomfortableness....since swtiching to dh's medical plan I have always meant to find a new one that was covered, but of course, never did... ..and you guessed it, now I had to....working at a camp all day makes it hard so I was pressed for time to call and can't exactly leave my kids or the staff there, so I was pretty screwed...you have no idea how many offices are closed wed's near us - I called 15! Finally I found a wonderful office that was so accomodating and told me to come straight there after work (a whole sob story in itslef since i would have rathered come home and freshed up but couldn't!) - as long as I had a note from my ob saying I could have x-rays and if needed, what kind of novocaine...which was my second prob...my old ob refused to write the ltr since I was "leaving" (the office manager said sorry but my ob had already been informed I was leaving so she wouldn't do it....)and I don't see my new ob until tuesday.....my luck! I called my new ob's office ans explained the situation...they were amazing.....faxed the letter over for me and I found out that now I have a cracked tooth in the back which hit the nerve causing an infection - and that they will have to extract it but particularly since I am preggers, I have to be on anitbiotics (ones safe for the baby!) for 7 days before they will do it.....so my face is still umcomfy and swollen although not as bad, and the rain doesn't help but at least its all getting taken care off...I could have kissed the dentist for seeing me, a new patient, when he was supposed to be going home - and for being so sweet...I am also thrilled my new ob office was so nice without ever even meeting me....but my goodness, I was fine until the past two weeks.....now I am a mess!!!!

oh my! figures this all happens when you're pregnant! i feel for you- i've had some bizarre medical complications during my 3rd trimester- cracked tooth as well, pinched nerve in my neck completely debilitating me for a week, in addition to my GD. i'm glad it worked out with the dentist & new OB though! hang in there!!!

Ouch! That sounds painful. Sorry for all of these problems. I'm sure you're very frustrated and upset. But, on the bright side, it's great that you're already happy with your new OB. It sounds like you made the right choice in switching to them.

thanks...dh and I keep laughing at how we had nothing at all to complain about and now I feel like such a whiner....I can't even open my mouth really....its all about soft foods right now...I cut up my fruit like you would for a baby...same with any food! (eating a boiled egg this morning was hysterical!)

but dh assures me that the fact I go to work all day with the kids and come home and do normal stuff under this new "condition" amazed him....what a cheerleader and great guy.....

Geez, you poor thing! You have more and more problems! I'm glad the new OB was so helpful though and that things went well at the dentist.

Im sorry your mouth hurts- Just think- what else could go wrong..... its gotta be smooth sailing from here
