Deposit for L&D...
I just got a phone call from my OB's billing department and was told I had to pay a deposit for L&D by month 7.
Has anyone ever heard of this?

no, I got my pre-approval already for my hospital stay but it didn't say anything about a deposit.

Re: Deposit for L&D...
My OB's office also required payments, based on your insurance. With my insurance, I am responsible for 5%. They estimated I would pay apprx $1200 out of pocket for a vaginal delivery, so each visit I paid $$ toward that. It covered the l&d, and every other hospital cost. It was good this way, so I didnt get a $1200 bill (for that 5%), just paid it off in small chunks over the 9 mos.

I've never heard of that. I got my preapproval for delivery from my insurance company a few months ago. Maybe check with your insurance company and see if you are required to pay a percentage or something.

Never heard of that. I had DD by c-section and got a bill 6 weeks later and that was it.

Never heard of it. I got a preapproval and know exactly how much I have to pay, but I dont have to pay anything beforehand.

Re: Deposit for L&D...
yeah i know nothing seemed right and we called the insurance company and they said I don't have to pay anything and that the doctors office shouldn't be charging me.

Re: Deposit for L&D...
At my first appointment, I was told that they would let me know how much I had to prepay. They had me give them $600 to cover all my services / copays / last year's deductible in advance. My insurance year reset a month before DD was born, but that $600 went towards my new deductible (which was $3k for this year) and then the hospital stay took care of the rest.
I don't know if that's the same thing you're talking about, but I definitely paid my OB in advance.

it is the same thing...what is wrong is that I will deliver before the end of the year. My insurance company said I would pay that if I didn't meet my deductible already and the doctors office would have to reimburse the $600.
