OPK

If I don't get a bpf this month I'm going to start with the temping and opks. Couple of questions. Are the line ones really difficult to read? They are so much cheaper than the smileys, where do you get your opks and how much do you sped.

TIA

Re: OPK

I have never used the line ones, so I don't know. I skipped right to the smileys so there was never any question for me.

I get the clearblue easy digital OPK's from Amazon.com. I got a kit with 20 tests for $25. I've been using the same kit for two cycles now, and I still have enough for at least one more cycle, if not two.

ETA - If you know approximately when you should be ovulating you wouldn't really need to use too many of the digital test sticks. The first month I used about 7 just to make sure I didn't miss it. This month I used only 3. So the kit might be more expensive, but it should last a few months, if cost is the issue.

But you could always try the ones with the lines and if they don't work for you at least you didn't waste a lot of $$

Re: OPK

I have never purchased the online opk's that have the lines. I have used the CVS version of them and I find it to difficult to interpret the lines. This month I did use the First Response OPK's (thanks to one of our wonderful LIF ladies) and I did get a very true positive reading. They are definately easier to read. But- I also use the Chat Icon OPK because there is no mistaking a positive. I get the Chat Icon from Amazon. A box of 20 is about $27.

Re: OPK

I tried the "cheapie" ones this month. After hearing so many horror stories about them, I was really hesitant. I don't know they work perfectly fine to me. I spent $5 for a pack of 14 opks and 5 pregnancy test, I figured if I couldn't read it properly I would go out and get different ones. The key is that you will get TWO lines no matter what, if they are not the same color then you're not close to O'ing.
