NSAIDS and Ovulation
Wondering if this has already been broached as subject here, I just found this on another board. Has anyone else heard of this?
Link between NSAID use and infertility
Yet ANOTHER thing to worry about.
(Edited because I am having a hard time spelling today )

Re: NSAIDS and Ovulation
Motrin seriously messed up my cycle. I was on a HIGH dose though (2400 mg/day - 12 regular pills) for an extended period of time (I have arthritis).
ETA: My RE won't allow me to take any Motrin when I start up my IVF cycle in a couple of weeks. I'm going to have to find another way to manage my pain (probably Prednisone).
ETA2: The Motrin has NOTHING to do with my infertility. I started taking it over 18 mos into TTC. It just definitely messed up my cycle.

Re: NSAIDS and Ovulation
I didnt read the article, but Ive heard not to take advil around o because it can thin your blood and inhibit implantation. I just chalked it up to one of those things to maybe avoid in large amounts (like liquor and coffee), but never gave it any weight. It doesn't make sense when some women are given blood thinners TO conceive.

Re: NSAIDS and Ovulation
Well my dr for my neck did put me on Limbrel which is anti-inflammatory and I think NSAID. Weird you're posting this because my cycle this month is totally f-Ed up. I was only on it for 5 days because I stopped taking it. FF said I Od cd8 and now I have AF I think starting on cd16. Uhhhh this makes me so mad because my cycle was finally starting to get normal. I was taking 500mg twice a day too so I bet that's what happened to me!

Did it mess up the cycle you took it and then go back to what it was? How exactly did it mess it up if you don't mind me asking because I'm so mad at the therapist right now. Especially since I told him I was ttc but not PG yet.

It began messing it up once I started on the high dose. I first started with a super short cycle (21 days) where I probably didn't ovulate. Next cycle, I didn't ovulate and spotted through the ENTIRE cycle. AND, my cycle was super short again (18 days).
I *think* my cycle would have regulated if I stopped taking the Motrin, but I started taking BCP in preparation for IVF, so I didn't have the opportunity to find out.
FYI, it was my first fertility doctor OK'd the Motrin! So, I guess you can't really blame your neck doctor!

Re: NSAIDS and Ovulation
Thanks for responding! Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm experiencing. Spotting started day 15 and has been getting worse. I'd say that constitutes a 16 day cycle So out of the ordinary for me! I stopped the medication after 5 days because I had a gut feeling I should. I just hope my cycle goes back to normal. I'm afraid to now after the bleeding. Grrr! So annoying! I feel like there's something every month holding us back.
