Monday QOTD

What type of parent do you think you'll be, or if you have a DC, what kind of parent are you?

Do you think youll be the go with the flow, the type A by-the-baby-book parent, the strict parent, a helicopter parnet or any other combination?


To answer - I thought Id be the easy going laid back parent and Im not, turns out Im super strict especially when it comes to behavior. Its probably backfiring on me though bc DS is a terrible listener! LOL! Im adjusting as I go and trying to be more relaxed and patient!!!! Im super laid back about somethings though, like dirt and germs, and foods, he can get dirty, germs dont bother me, if he wants to have a soda and doritos....go right ahead.

I have no idea really. But I *think* we will both be more of a "go with the flow" type of parent. Although I know that DH will be a lot stricter when it comes to behavior and discipline.

I also assume that everything I think will change when ( ) we actually have children.

I'm hoping I am def NOT a helicopter parent. MIL is like that and it drives me insane!!!! I def want to be involved and present (my parents were distant parents) I hope I can just find a happy medium.

old school about some things -- more laid back about others.

my main thing is i just want our kids to be smart, polite little people who do their own thing.

i expect my kids to try to push the envelope and see what they can get away with -- and as long as they are smart enough to not get caught or put themselves in harms way -- and as long as they aren't hurting peoples feelings... i will let them do what they're going to do.

i think you can only do so much to teach kids what right and wrong and at a certain point you have to step back and hope they make the right decisions.

I think I would be stricter than DH.
I was brought up to be respectful and polite to adults and I would expect the same of my child. DH wants the same thing.

I think we would both want our children to do what makes them happy. Be creative and ambitious.

I am hoping that I am a strict but fair and loving parent that always makes sure that my kids now that I love them more than anything and as such just want the best for them. DH and I have decided we are going to try and make sure that our kids are active and do what we can to help encourage physical activity. We are both a bit Overweight and are predisposed to be. Neither one of us really plays any sports of any kind and we were not encourage to do so as kids. I want to make sure that my kids know that is an option, but I don't want to be like my sister who has to give up a lot of her life because her kids play hockey. I want to be able to find a happy medium.

Wow - I gave a long answer, huh? I guess I think about it a lot.

I think I'm going to be the strict one and DH the nice and easygoing one. I worry about it sometimes. I know I have to relax with some things
