DH's schedule is ruining our TTC time!

Just wondering if I am the only one in this boat. DH works 4pm to 12am...sometimes even later that that. His days off rotate. I am a teacher so I get home after he leaves and wake up and go to work while he's still sleeping. days go by when we don't even see each other. This month we are trying Deanna's plan for TTC. I've been having DH wake me up when he gets home so we can BD. I am so exhausted...so exhausted that last night when he woke me, I felt sick and we couldn't even try. It was supposed to be the 3rd time after the positive OPK. I am so depressed this morning. I feel like we threw away this month. Do you think I still have a chance? Am I the only one dealing with a DH's hellish work schedule?

My DH used to have the exact same schedule! It was horrible. I wonder if it's the same job LOL.

Honestly, I would just BD on his days off. It might take longer but you don't want TTC to become a chore - and if his schedule is anything like my DH's was, he would be off at least every 6/7 days and you are bound to hit your O time eventually. In optimal conditions, sperm can live up to 5 days inside, but usually 2-3.

Also, try taking plain Robitussin or Mucinex a week or so before O time up until a day or two past O. This thins your CM and helps the sperm live longer - it worked for me twice!

Ugh I totally get where you're coming from.

Yesterday was my first fertile day and of course DH is sick- like he was in bed with a cold. I wanted to kill him! So unless he miraculously gets better by today or definitely tommorrow, I will be out.

I know that our situations aren't the same but I can still feel your frustration. GL and tons of for you!

Oh man I sorta know the feeling....my DH is away alot and it makes BD on the RIGHT days hard. And sometimes we are just too tired, etc and I am like ughhh forget it. Like sometimes I feel I am forcing it too much. One month I was sick but still BDing but I said ughh I cannot concieve a child when I feel like this and I want it to be romantic (ha!) but so we only did it a few times and I went to bed early the other nights and just said screw it.

Anyway there is STILL hope though, you did it day 1 of +OPK and day 2 right? That is GREAT! Just do it one more time and I feel like you covered your bases. The month I got pregnant that is what we did and then skipped day 3 and went to day 4 (after +OPK)

Thanks ladies. I'm just so stressed out over this. It's not even fun anymore....feels like a chore I need to check off on my To Do list and I definitely do not want it to be like this. for all of us this month

I wouldn't consider this month a wash at all. You got in the two most important days already! Every month I plan to do Deanna's plan and we've never been able to stick to it yet. Sorry you're having to deal with this, but try not to stress too much.

I still think you def. have a chance and I totally agree with you on the frustration of different schedules. DH works crazy hours and also goes to school The times we do see eachother he is always so exhausted (and I dont blame him) but I just feel like months get wasted that way. Again, I feel your pain

You might be good. It only takes one time. The month I got pregnant we had sex 2-3 times each week not knowing my fertile days. It is crapshoot no matter what you do. You can do it once and get pregnant. You can do it 7 days in a row during ovulation and not get pregnant. It's think it is a little bit of timing and a little bit of luck.

I hear you on having a hard time keeping up with the We tried Deanna's Plan again this month and it was not easy. Last month we missed the day after the positive opk. This month instead of doing the 3 days in a row & skipping a day we did 4 in a row. All I know is next month we are doing something different. It's too much and it is stressful to on command like this month after month.
