? About Moms- sorry, long

So, I think I'm probably alone here but I'd like to hear your thoughts..

My mom is totally not on board with DH and I TTC. She's said things like "you're so young", "you have so much time", " you should have alone time with DH first", and my favorite "you can't put it back"Chat Icon

I know this makes her sound horrible, she's not a horrible woman. She's said these things in passing. And regarding a friend my age who got married the same time as me is now preggo, to that she said "that was quick"

She doesn't know that we've decided to start TTC, but she knows we wanted to late this yr/early next.

Some of you may be thinking that she prob has reasons for us waiting, but I'm 26 DH's 31. Both have fab careers, married, and bought our house 5yrs ago. So, what do we have to wait for?

I'm so upset that she's not going to be happy once were pregnant. I feel like every other parent cannot wait to become grandparents, including my dad and stepdad and ILs.
I'm scared she's going to be dissapointed.Chat Icon Chat Icon I really want her to be excited and jump for joy.

Well thank you so much for reading if you made it this far.

Aw, I am so sorry that you are going through this with your momChat Icon Maybe she is saying this not to add extra pressure to you and your DH. Once you get your BFP I am sure that she will be ecstatic. After all knowing that she will have a grandchild will make her forget all the little snide remarks that she made.

Re: ? About Moms- sorry, long

My parents said things like "You don't want kids, there a handful" etc etc. Made me feel they wouldn't be excited for us at all.

Well that's entirely untrue, and my parents are absolutely thrilled - it may just be all talk with your mom Were you a handful or something to make her say all those things? (lol, I believe that's why my parents discouraged me having kids, I was kind of a brat lol).

I never told my parents were trying because of all the negative things said - I'm well aware it's a full time job and things aren't going to be "perfect".

I say go for it and keep it to yourselves, I'm 26 (gonna be 27 next week) and DH is 30, and I don't consider that young at all. My mom had me at 24 for goodness sake. Chat Icon

My mom was the type to say things like that...always saying that I need to have some time just being married. I thought she wouldn't be very ecstatic when we got pregnant.

Boy was I wrong! She is the most excited out of the entire family.

Your mom will turn around!

My mom was always indifferent, or at least she appeared that way. She is so happy and excited for us, it's incredible.

Re: ? About Moms- sorry, long

Once, I showed my mom a picture and said, "Don't I look pregnant here?", and the face she made just said it all. Any time I speak about becoming pregnant, or having a baby, I can just tell that she's thinking all kinds of negative things. She's told me several times to wait until we're ready and enjoy our time alone. We're going to TTC in a few months, but I don't plan on telling her because I'm sort of nervous about her reaction. Hopefully once I really am pregnant, she'll be happy Chat Icon

I know for a fact my mom would not be supportive at all if she knew we were TTC right now. But I really think once we're expecting she'll get over it and be thrilled. I'm sure it will be the same with your mom Chat Icon
