Re: Moms to be 35 and up
I'm 35, will be 36 at time of delivery. Opted for amnio even though my NT scan numbers were good. The risk associated with the amnio at the place I had it done was only 1/5 of 1%. For me, the peace of mind I received was well worth it. It's such a personal decision. I'm so glad I did it.

I have to say, if I wasn't so scared of having the needle I would have an amnio just for the certainty it provides.
thanks everyone
Just so you know, it really doesn't hurt as badly as you'd think...
The CVS was not comfortable, I will say. But it's not as bad as the dentist. I count in my head for things like this (dentist too) and the CVS took 78 and the amnio 88. So it's really so quick! (The amnio took longer, b/c he used an extra fine needle to lower risk, so it takes a bit longer to extract the fluid.)

Re: Moms to be 35 and up
I had an amnio but my ultrascreen was inconclusive due to the fact that my son would not get into the proper position for them to get readings. We tried on 2 occasions. I considered skipping the amnio, though. FYI, it was virtually painless.

Re: Moms to be 35 and up
I'm 35 & after my blood tests my ob/gyn said the chances of down syndrome are 1 in 116. We went to a genetic councilor to talk about an amnio but decided not to.
