lovenox question..

This is my 3rd day using it and using the needle is fine..I have never been afraid of needles..but I am bruising real bad..they told me to just rotate around my stomach and just make sure it is under my belly button...so 3 days 3 diff spots 3 gigantic bruises lol...I am doing this right, right? Lol. I'm just figuring in 2 weeks I will be covered in bruises..

Could also just be me and my body cause even when I have blood drawn I get a giant black n blue

Thanks so much

Re: lovenox question..

Do you pinch your skin before giving yourself the shot? I tend to bruise badly when having blood drawn, but I was told that pinching the skin will help. I pinched an had slight bruising. HTH! Good luck!

Re: lovenox question..

totally normal. Lovenox is notorious for causing bruising. When I used it for my IVF cycle I was COVERED in bruises......looked like someone kicked my a$$ Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: yes sounds like you're doing it right Chat Icon the bruising is just part of it. Just keep moving it over a bit for each injection....like a little assembly line Chat Icon

Re: lovenox question..

We were told you don't bruise as much if you stretch the skin instead of pinch Chat Icon (yes, my dh still does my injections! Chat Icon )

We did that this morning with my first lovenox injection and so far no bruising and it didn't even hurt at all. (he also injected slow)

Re: lovenox question..

I got great advice from Flowerwife on how to do the lovenox injections. Some people told me to hold the skin while others did not. I have always held the skin when I give myself injections so Im afraid not to hold it. I didn't bruise right away, it sort of came after a week or so when they all came out. I do know you are suppose to go really slow or else it burns.
Good Luck!Chat Icon

I sit down and inject without pinching or stretching the skin and inject slowly. I do not rub the area afterwards, but I will hold a gauze over it just in case of some small bleeding. After doing it this way I did not have any bruising.
Good luck.

Re: lovenox question..

I currently have the largest bruise EVER from a Lovenox injection It's wierd because my very 1st cycle on Lovenox I bruised with every single injection and then it stopped up until now. I pinch the skin and inject at a 45 degree angle. If I go straight on, I always bruise. Normally, it leaves the tiniest bruise the size of the injection. Be careful because you can get a lump underneath with the bruising.

Re: lovenox question..

i bruise sometimes with lovenox. i wont bruise for weeks and it will hurt, and then they wont hurt and i'll bruise bad that will last for 3 weeks. there doesnt seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason in it for me.

i personally always pinch the skin. it works for me. i also always ice beforehand. and like others have said, the #1 most important key is to inject AS.SLOW.AS.POSSIBLE!!! i cant say enough how much that helps!! i was on it for several cycles prior to IVF, and since the BFP i have been on it every day since October. still to this day i inject soooo slow. i usually inject a tiny bit, wait to see if it stings, if it doesnt i tap the plunger a little more, then repeat the process until its empty. i never ever plunge the whole thing down at once.

good luck!
