contracts

We signed the contract for the house we are buying on March 11th. There were three on the sellers end that needed to sign. One was out of state. The first two (on Long Island) signed right away.

As of today we are told we are waiting on the OOS one to sign still.

Is this normal?

When should we start being concerned? Apparently the OOS one has had the contract for about 12 days now. Chat Icon

I am trying to be patient, but I am tired of waiting LOL

Re: contracts

i think every situation is different. with three different signatures needed, that's a lot of coordination. maybe you can ask your lawyer to chase theirs since the contract has been with the OOS person for 12 days?

Good luck!

I agree, I don't think there's any "normal" when you are dealing with human nature.

I think you are buying an estate sale, so one of the children of the deceased homeowner is out of state? They may just be slow and lazy about getting the paperwork back to the sellers' attorney. Since they're not in the area, they are probably disconnected from the entire process. It may just not be a big priority for them. You never know what's going on in someone's life.

I wouldn't be worried, because usually with an estate sale, once the sellers agree to take an offer, the sellers just want to sell quickly and get their money and be done with the house. So there's really no reason for them to drag their feet, especially if the other 2 have signed and you are just waiting on the 3rd signature.

But you could have your attorney call the sellers' attorney (or your agent call the listing agent) to put some pressure on to get this done. 12 days is a long time to sit on it, especially when we have so much technology to make it easier!
