When you put your house up for sale.....
How fast did it take to see some activity and how long before you got offers?
We put our house up yesterday with a realtor so today is officially day #1 on the market. We are spoiled bc last time we sold we had an accepted offer by 7pm that first day. (That was just great luck).
Kinda trying to get the reality of it since last time wasn't the norm.
We are selling in Lynbrook.

Re: When you put your house up for sale.....
Our place went on the market on a Thursday-- I think the listing was viewable by 5ish. We had about 3 showings the first weekend, and by the end of the weekend our first offer.
We ended up getting 3 or 4 offers, and had about 3 to 6 showings week. All offers were in the same general neighborhood but we had some other circumstances which made us choose which buyer to go with-- and we needed to also find our house.
All was probably set and in contract- after negotiations, etc. after about 4 to 6 weeks.

Re: When you put your house up for sale.....
We put our house up and had showings with a few days. An offer came in two weeks later which we accepted but the buyer fell through. We had a second offer come in a few months later but we couldn't come to an agreement. After 6 months, we took our house off the market and two months after that, we got an offer which we accepted. We're closing in May.
So from the time we listed our house to the time we came to an agreement was about 9-10 months.

Just curious...how did you get an offer if you were not on the market anymore?

Our broker thought of it for one of his new clients. He had a buyer who was looking for waterfront homes in our town right after we took our house off but couldn't find anything she liked. so she was willing to expand her search to 'near the water,' which is a category we fall into. So the broker thought of my house, showed her the location and then called to ask if I would consider showing it.
The funny thing is, a few weeks ago I got a call from another broker who said she had interest from a buyer who had seen my house when it was on the market and am i still interested in selling. i was in contract already so it was a moot point but still very interesting i thought.

Re: When you put your house up for sale.....
Our house in Centereach had a lot of activity right away and had an offer the first weekend on the market.. which we negotiated and accepted.
House in Kings Park was put on in the dead of winter around the holidays. I expected no activity but we had tons of showings. Had an offer right away (within a week) but ended up not working out. We accepted an offer after about 2 months on the market. The person buying came to an open house. (we had 2 open houses)
Good luck!
