Had my amnio yesterday- long
Ok I will start with the good stuff first-
the tech took so many pictures of the baby with the sonogram, it was the neatest thing to see. The baby was wrapped in a little ball so it was hard for the girl to do what she needed to do and then finally I guess the baby woke up and the cutest thing the baby started to wave its hand!!!!!! we got a picture of it!!! we were like OMG the baby is saying hi. then the baby was doing aerobics, the funniest thing. We got some cool pictures. she said when I am 20 weeks they will do a detailed sonogram for me.
ok now the amnio- can we say OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I watched the screen after they put the needle in so I can see what they were doing. When they put the needle in it hurt and then was uncomfortable b/c the needle is in there for a minute and I know a minute sounds like nothing but you feel the pressure and it hurts. then when they take it out- the pain and pressure vanish. I had like 2 to 3 cramps after and that was it, thank god!
AND since I am RH- I had to get another wammy in my butt! now that shot hurts it stings!!!!!! and I have to get 2 more  at 27 weeks and after birth.
72 hours you cant do anything, but Im bored and wanted to come on here, hee hee. So far so good no signs of complications and no irritation at amnio site. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Thanks ladies for listening and if anyone is getting an amnio, it really isnt that bad, its a few minutes of blah but when they are done it vanishes. I wouldnt run out to get another one but its a small price to pay to make sure the baby is okay.

glad to hear everything went well! the early sonos are so exciting! unfortunately, as the baby gets big, you can't see as much. last time they could only fit the head on the screen- i miss seeing my little one moving all around and waving!

I'm glad to hear everything went well!
I had my appointment for my amnio this past week. The doctor had said everything had looked good so far and if I wasn't 100% sure to wait and have my Level II ultraound, then decide. On the ultrasound I had the way the baby was positioned they would of had to put the needle thru the placenta, which I wasn't so comfortable with. When you had the amnio did they have to put the needle thru the placenta? or if anyone else had the needle go thru the placenta, did it go as easy?
I am Rh negative as well, it was good to read your experience. I'm glad it was a good one! Good luck with everything and keep us updated!

Glad to hear all went well I had to get one too for my pregnancy, I am Rh - also and if your baby is - after birht you don't have to get another shot just the 27 week one.. She was - so I didn't need one!!

Thanks ladies!!!!! OOOOOOOO thats a relief to know if my lil one is RH- too I dont need that last shot b/c OUCH! stings but it does go away, LOL.
So far today monday no complications thank god, especially since my doctor couldnt make the appt stuck in labor and I totally put the trust of the places doctor to do the amnio.
Through the placenta? Im not sure I know they went through all layers of my skin and in the sac to draw the fluid. Not fun!
and youre right now its torture waiting! 2 weeks they said,

Silly question...what is Rh? What else does the amnio tell you? Do most women get it or not?

I thought the only way you could avoid the shot was if DH was negative?
