ok so I just got the OPK ...now...
I read a bunch of places on here that you ladies recommend not using your 1st morning pee to test your LP levels....
but the instructions in the box say to use your 1st morning pee...
ETA: AND it also suggesting day 9 in you are not sure of your cycle...is that what you all suggest too!?!?

If you are not sure of your cycle, probably better to test for more days to be sure you don't miss your O. I test in the am with FMU and get my smiley. Testing in the afternoon doesn't work for me.

I thought you were supposed to use your FMU (first morning urine). I've always read the girls here recommending to use that. I guess it's personal preference but the FMU will be more concentrated or something like that.
CD9 isn't a bad day to start your OPK. Once you notice which days you start getting your positive tests you can change which day you start testing.

I think the thing about testing in the afternoon has to do with when the LH surge happens... and it usually happens in the afternoon. That's why some girls choose to test later on in the day.
It will work with FMU or later on in the day. I used to test at night with OPK's.
If you really don't know the time frame of when you usually ovulate then CD 9 isn't too bad to start.
I don't usually O until CD 21.. so if you are like me then you would need A LOT of OPK's for the first cycle!!!

I believe the clear blue digitals are the only ones that you can use fmu. I have used fmu and have gotten a smiley and then tested the same day in the afternoon and got a smiley again so I think its fine. I start using opks on cd 7 only because my body sometimes tends to O early...

I use the clear blue easy digital. I always use FMU and always have gotten my smiley. I start on CD 10 though and sometimes need two boxes of OPK. I chose to start CD10 eventhough i have never ovulated that early just b/c i do not want to miss my O.

I started using the tests on CD9 since it was my first month of using them and I wasn't 100% sure when I O. As long as your cycle is longer than like 24 days, CD9 is fine. 
It really only matters that you are testing at approximately the same time each day. So if FMU works for you, go ahead and use it!

Hmmm...its hard for me to hold my pee in the afternoon so testing FMU would be better. I had read a lot of ladies on here like to use afternoon so this is my first cycle using the OPK's and I have been trying to do afternoon, but its difficult. If I started testing in the morning now would it mess anything up?
