Giving up drinking

I'm on the fence about TTC; we aren't trying right now, but want to soon.

So, how many of you continued to drink while TTC? I have a party to host on Sat where I'll be drinking and I'm not sure if I should because we haven't been protecting. I don't know what my excuse would be if I didn't drink though...

I have been TTC for a long time and I drank at first and then stopped and now I am drinking again.....A few drinks isnt going to hurt your chances and even in the 2ww.

I drank during the 2WW -- don't need to change your lifestyle too much until you have you BFP

Enjoy your drink / party

You don't need to give up drinking until you get a BFP - enjoy yourself at your party!

I always drank up until I found out I was PG. Its too early for any harm to be done to the baby.

Exactly, you don't share a blood stream with the baby until after 6 weeks.

I certainly wouldn't stop drinking, unless I was binge drinking like a 21 yr old!

yeah I'd go with this, when I was in a 2ww I just lightened up or didn't drink at all. My nausea came a little early, so I didn't want to drink.

Re: Giving up drinking

I drank while TTC. I "stopped" after my cycle got very long because I read alcohol and caffeine can exacerbate irregular cycles but DH convinced me I wasn't drinking enough alcohol or coffee to affect anything and so I had a few more drinks... and then got my BFP a few days later. I'm glad I had those drinks because it's a long time before I can have another Chat Icon

I drank until I got to my 2WW. But I would only do glass of wine here and there..or a beer when watching a game or something.

Re: Giving up drinking

No Way!!!!

I'm not giving my glass of wine/pint of beer until I absolutely have to.

I just try to be conservative with any drinking I do (I don't black out as much as I used to Chat Icon )

I guess it was all ok..she is still living today!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

It does not change the odds of you being pregnant or hurt the baby so there is no reason to abstain Chat Icon

Re: Giving up drinking

I dont really drink that much to begin with. So if I go out and have a drink or 2 I dont think its too big of a deal.

I really only have a glass of wine once in a while but I will continue enjoying my wine until I get a BFP. No harm done.

Re: Giving up drinking

When I was TTC my son, I decided to totally stop drinking (not a big drinker anyway- but I like my wine here and there). After several months of trying and stressing, I decided to relax my restrictions (I also had cut out all caffeine). Sure enough, that was the month I got my BFP.

Re: Giving up drinking

I hardly ever drink - maybe a couple of times a YEAR so I just don't. I understand that I can but since I hardly do it to begin with, I just don't.
