Buying baby clothes and not being pregnant. Thoughts?
So, have any of you purchased baby clothes (not baby items, just clothes) and were not even pregnant yet?
I have, nothing major...just little onesies and such that are on sale only. I was tempted to buy something today but then told myself not too because, for one, I dont know if its going to be a boy or girl and 2, they may not fit into it by the time the baby is born because I dont know when exactly I'll get pregnant

I never did it. It never even crossed my mind before I got pregnant. I have heard of some people doing it though.

I think I'd be affraid to even buy stuff before 20 weeks pregnant.
I can't tell you how many times I have seen the cutest little girl stuff and didn't buy it b/c buying it would ensure I only have boys

i've bought stuff i thought was cute that would be good for either gender.
we aren't even officially TTC.
i've been doing this for years. i dont have a ton of stuff... only a few things but they've been special items that i couldn't take a chance on not finding again.

No....... only when I was pregnant. However, I have a hard time passing up a cute maternity shirt on a good sale

I haven't, but have thought to myself "well what if I can't find something like this when I finally get pregnant?"
MY DH thought it was entirely crazy, but I resisted. Was tough.

Re: Buying baby clothes and not being pregnant. Thoughts?
i am mostly against it. i waited until my first BFP to buy onesies to give my mom and dad to announce the pregnancy - and then that pregnancy ended before i even got the chance to give it to them. luckily this one has stuck but i still havent bought any baby clothes. i did buy DH two onesies for Vday (an "i love daddy" one for a girl and a "my daddy rocks" one for a boy since we are team ). but i still wont really buy anything else and im 25w. i figure ill get so much for my shower theres no point in buying now anyway.
on the other hand my friend is 15w and she cant stop talking about all the clothes she will buy after she finds out the sex in about two weeks

DH purchased a onesie last year that caught his eye when he was buying a t-shirt for himself online...I was very surprised but also touched...It made me realize that I am not the only slightly crazy one on this journey....

I have been, not even ttc yet but I do, when on sale or a good price. I put it in a "hope chest" I figure one way or another some day I will have a baby. And if anything doesn't fit or wrong gender, I'll donate it.

I agree, def a nice way to look at it. I have not bought anything but I do love a good sale!!! I once saw this beautiful bedding set on sale at 50% off. I was so tempted to buy it but I know DH would have killed me, so I resisted

Re: Buying baby clothes and not being pregnant. Thoughts?
i have tons of stuff..
bought in the beginning bc we didnt think it would take this long
then when we went to disney we wanted to buystuff we could not get here
third..if i see something i really like..im gonna buy it
i cant be superstitious bout it cause after 13 months then we would be officially cursed
we just look at it as hoping and praying for the best and knowing one day god willing we will be able to fill those clothes

No, I wouldn't and haven't done that.
I think I will wait a while even after getting pregnant to start buying baby clothes.

Re: Buying baby clothes and not being pregnant. Thoughts?
I bought a Ferrari jersey (DH is obsessed with the races) once bc it was like $5 marked down from $50. It was years ago when we were engaged, I just put it away, it can be used for a boy or a girl. I also have 2 onesies that I bought for SIL before my niece was born, they're gender neutral and she got duplicates of them so I just kept them for myself, but I guess technically that's not really buying them for myself.

Re: Buying baby clothes and not being pregnant. Thoughts?
My DH saw a Jets onesie on sale and bought it (a few years ago, way before the TTC days). I thought it was cute ge wanted it!
Also I do have some maternity clothes..I bought them from a fellow LIFer and got them during my last pregnancy which didnt work out but I will keep them for when the time comes.

Re: Buying baby clothes and not being pregnant. Thoughts?
I could never do this!!!!!
I can't imagine having a bin/bag filled with baby stuff for a baby that I may never be able to conceive. I think that would just make me feel worse about struggling to get pregnant.
I won't even buy anything until the babies actually arrive! I know that's out of the ordinary but its how I was raised.
