Pregnancy & Social Life
My friends keep asking me what I want to do for my b-day...I really dont want to do much, but DH (who works a lot of weekends), is off this weekend, and I think he wants to go out too.
The easiest thing to do would be to go to a local bar,but since I'm visibly pregnant, I feel awkward hanging out in a bar...anyone else feel like this??
The other option would be to go to a restaurant that has a bar...any suggestions for a good place between West Islip and Patchogue??

What about finding a comedy club?
We did this for my bday this year. it was a good idea... because it was a fun night time adult thing to do and those who could drink... drank! Yet you still had fun too and didn't feel awkward or anything.
That's my best idea.
Other than that I say just go to the bar. I've been to a bar a few times. Sometimes you just have pple's parties at bars. Since there's no more smoking in bars it's not bad. I would bring an iced decaf coffee with me and a bottle of water.

I see ZERO reason to go into exhile b/c I'm pregnant - Pregnant woman in a bar hanging out w/ her friends is NOT the same as pregnant woman in a bar doing tequila shots w/ her friends. - KWIM?

When I was pregnant with #1 I went to a bachelorette party in NYC at multiple bars when I was about 7 months pregnant (and I carry big!) it was fine.
If you dont want to go to the bar thats one thing, but dont think you CAN"T go.

I totally agree with these ladies!! DH and I go out once in awhile and still enjoy our time with our family and friends, and I also do my girls nights every month with my friends, nothing changed just because I am pregnant (other then me not drinking). If you feel uncomfortable or don't want to go out, then that is a different story, but please don't think you can't go out just because you are pregnant and shouldn't be in bars. People don't smoke in bars anymore, so it's not bad to go there and have fun with friends.

i would do a dinner with a group of friends! my choice would be a place like the melting pot, all your non prego friends can drink and have a good time, and you can eat your butt off!!

Who cares if you're visibly pregnant!? GO!!
A local bar is probably better than trying to find someplace else, since you are comfy at your local bar. Having a bump in a bar is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed over at all.
I'm quite visibly pregnant and will go into any bar and not even blink an eye. I say have a great weekend with your DH and friends!

I say have a great time! the only social events I have passed on were a night out at a smoky bar with college friends when I was 6w pregnant and couldnt stay up past 9pm and I knew it would be a really late night (and nobody knew I was pregnant), and a double-date dinner at Lugers that I kept postponing because I was extremely averse to meat and was hoping to bide my time until I was ready to come out and then reveal the real reason. 
I wouldn't worry about having a bump at a bar, it's not like you are drinking! Helll, I went as a veeery pregnant Bristol Palin for halloween 2008 (fake bump) and a few people asked if I was really pregnant -- probably because I was drinking like a fish -- but most didnt bat an eye.

I have no desire to go to a bar while pregnant.
Personally I'd do a nice brunch or dinner. JMO.
