OPK and Luteal Phase???

Maybe someone can help me out on this-
I have a 25 day cycle and take OPKs to see when I ovulate. If I get a positive reading 10 days before my next period, am I ok? Or do the opks predict 24-36 hours before you ovulate which would then make my luteal phase pretty short? I'm trying to chart my cycle and for 2 months in a row seem to get a positive reading on exactly 10 days before my next cycle...any help if this is ok would be appreciated!!! Chat Icon

Re: OPK and Luteal Phase???

When an OPK turns positive it means you are about to O in the next 12-36 hours..so you should count the next day as the day you O'd..from that day is when you start counting until AF arrives. So that would make your leatual phase 9 days, right? Is that what you mean? In that case you may have a leutual phase defeat..try taking b6 to lengthen it. How many cycles has this happened?

Anything under 10days is considered a defect..however, occasionally we can have leutal phase less than 10days. Ive had a few cycles like that but if you continue to have short leutal phase then you should consider taking b6 vitamin to help legthen it.
