On the brink of being a stupid question...(For those who had or will have) a scheduled c-section.
Lets say your water breaks prior to the c-section date, and you start to go into labor...
Will you still have the c-section or will the OB advise for a vag delivery? What if there is no time to administer the epi?
I am not a candidate for a vbac..

I asked about this at my last appointment. Dr said if I go into labor I become an immediate emergency c section. I refuse to even attempt a VBAC, so he said that would be how we proceed.

I asked my OB the same thing and he said then they'll do a c-section. They first check to make sure your water did break and then they know the baby is ready to come out now.
DS was 2 weeks later. My OB will schedule me about 39 weeks. For some reason I don't think I'll go early, but I could be wrong

With my 2nd I was willing to do VBAC so if my water broke the OB would have let me labor.
However if I didn't want to try VBAC then it would have become an immediate emergency c-section as soon as I got to the hospital.

Your water breaking won't make you ineligible for a c-section. I had a c-section with DS after 30+ hours of labor and my water breaking.
I don't really foresee any reason a c-section would not be preformed. If for some reason an epi can't be administered they would sedate you. This just happened with a twin mommy. I think she had eaten that day so they couldn't give her an epi. Instead she went under. But her babies were born perfect.

Re: On the brink of being a stupid question...(For those who had or will have) a scheduled c-section.
There generally is an underlying issue in the first place that constitutes the decision to do a c-section (unless its elective), so they would still go forward with the c-section...
My water broke in the parking lot of the hospital when I was on my way in to my scheduled c-section ..DD was a repeat c-section and I was a previoa case so for me it was a health issue to have the c-section done... My DS (my 1st DC) , he was measuring large so the OB felt c-section was the way to go (and I am thankful he did at )
This is a repeat c-section as well...

My SIL had a csection. She went into labor a week before her eviction date

Re: On the brink of being a stupid question...(For those who had or will have) a scheduled c-section.
I will opt for the c-section still. I don't think that my OB does VBAC's, and I'm not really interested anyway - DD was 8lb 14oz, and a head circumferance of 14.5 " I'm not taking that chance!!
But...I do secretly hope that I go into labor before my eviction date, just so the birthday can be a surprise Although, we live an hour or so from the hospital, so I don't really want to go into full on labor and be trying to race to the hospital!

I had an very urgent c/s with DD#1, I had no epi while in labor and there was no time to get one. They gave me general anestesia.

My C-section was scheduled for 1/28....well I started having contractions the day before (while at the hospital doing pre-surgical testing coincidentally). I had the C-section on 1/27.
