cd#44- my doctors appt today

Just thought i'd share with you ladies. My cycles have become irregular (and getting longer) and they used to always be regular. Last month i even had mid cycle spotting. Now here i am on cd#44 and no af in sight...

I went to the doctor today and basically I haven’t ovulated yet from the scan i had, although I’m about to. He says the follicle is 1.9 in size and usually when they get to 2.0 they burst and release. Although the chances of getting pregnant in this cycle are low because it’s happening so late. But we'll still try like crazy.

He wants me to go for bloodwork on cd#3 once I get AF. Depending on those results and numbers, he may put me on clomid because it sounds like my body is having a hard time ovulating.

So that's the scoop. I'm happy that my doctor is being proactive even though we haven't been ttc that long. Although if i do need it, i may wait on the clomid, but we'll see. Chat Icon

ETA: oh and i just tested and got my smiley face! Didn't think i'd see one of those! Chat Icon

Although the chances of getting pregnant in this cycle are low because it’s happening so late.

What do you mean - that you are ovulating so late in your cycle?
I got BFP when I ovulated on cd52.....so I am confused here?

do you normally O late?

I'm not sure why, he just said your chances are on the low side. Maybe because the egg doesn't mature enough. Not sure.

egg quality is poorer the later you O in your cycle - specifically if you aren't Oing until after CD25 or so. that doesnt mean you CAN'T get pregnant with a late O, it just means that if you consistently have trouble Oing and O late, all of those fluctuating hormones take their toll on the developing egg and the quality goes down.

its very typical of PCOS.

Guess I was lucky then getting prego 2nd cycle trying...I have crazy long cycles, do not have PCOS. So I O late b/c I have long cycles.
