has anyone dealt with Acreedo Pharmacy

(If I am spelling that right)
I have Empire NYSHIP and was told I needed to order certain meds thru their pharmacy. Dr. B's office called something in yesterday and I have not heard anything so I called and they said there was nothing called in for me.
I don't want to keep bothering Linda with this nonsense but I will need my meds next week and want them delivered ASAP.

I have Empire and had to use them the last time around, also. Once my doc's office faxed them the prescriptions, they called me right away. I would call your doc's office and confirm that the fax was sent. I found them to be very helpful and quick. Good luck Chat Icon

Re: has anyone dealt with Acreedo Pharmacy

I just used them for the first time and didn't have the best experience. Although not terrible- definitely not good.

My doctor gave me a script and I mailed it the following day. In the meantime, I was given a 10 day supply of meds to hold me over. Over a week went by and I never heard from them. I kept checking online and it said it was processing. Needless to say, I had my doctor call in a refill on the 10 day supply and I started calling Acreedo daily. Finally- after 4 days of phone tag (13 days since I mailed my order- 9 since it was received in the system) and 3 different customer service reps saying that my meds were placed and ready to ship- my order was processed, finalized, and has been expedited and is expected to be delivered today. They claim that the hold up was that the doctor's script wasn't clear and they didn't have a clear understanding of the dosage. Chat Icon Even though the script wasn't clear- they never called my doctors office, nor did they fax anything for it to be rectified. It wasn't until I CALLED that they realized there was a major hold up.

From now on I will be extra diligent in tracking my orders. In the past, I've never waited more than a week from start to finish for a prescription. Hopefully this was a one time thing.

Good luck!

I have Empire BCBS, I have used Acreedo. I found them to be very helpful and nice. My Doc called in my script for lovenox. They called me to set up and confirm shipment/delivery. They recently called me to set up a refill order too.
Maybe you should check with the office again to see that they did actually fax/call in the Rx. Good Luck!

That's what I am doing now. This is the first time I am using them and didn't know how long it took for them to process the scripts.

Thanks everyone!!

I use them and would say that the best rule of thumb (and what is suggested by my RE's office) is to call in the afternoon to see if they received the fax. Out of the 5 times I have used them they have only received the fax 2 on the first tryChat Icon

I used them too and my experience wasnt bad. I acutally had to call my RE to get them to resend the informaiton to them again the second time but after that they were really fine. Also found them to be cheaper than Kraupner's. I guess with Kraupners you are paying also for the delivery at all hours of the night too.

Who decides which pharmacy is used? I am planning on starting my first IVF cycle in the near future and I was just curious...I use Medco for mail orders and they referred me to Acreedo, a specialty pharmacy for my lovenox order. I see the name Kraupners often for Rx orders, so does it depend on insurance coverage alone or the doctor? Of course I would like the cheapest option if covered, I have a VERY high Rx deductible and copay!

Sometimes it depends on your insurence. I am also with Empire NYSHIP and they require that all my IVF meds be ordered through acreedo. I really have no choice. They did allow one emergency order per med from a regular retail pharmacy but the co-pay is much higher.

Re: has anyone dealt with Acreedo Pharmacy

As for my experience with them, I had a pretty good experience. It took them about a week and a half, from the time the doctor sent them the script, to get the order to me. First they had to verify something with the doctor. And then they processed the order and called me to set up delievery. And I had the meds the day after they called to set up delivery. I only see you having a problem if you need the meds quicker then a week.
