Getting off BC question
Hi all!
I came off my BC a month ago and was wondering for those of you who have had experience with getting off BC, how long did it take your cycles to get back to "normal"? I am not looking to TTC for another 6 months, but would like to get my cycles back to "normal" since i've been on BC for about 10 years.
TIA!!

Re: Getting off BC question
well everyone is different. some people become regular right away and others take a few months.
for me, I never really became regular. I was always regular before BCP but after I went off I was having really long, irregular cycles. After a few months, I saw a RE and found out it is because I have PCOS so my situation is a little different.
good luck!!

Re: Getting off BC question
I was on BC for 12 years! The 1st month after coming off my cycle was 31 days, 2nd month cycle was 24 days...now i am pretty much back to an average 28-29 day cycle. It took me two months.

Re: Getting off BC question
ok good to know its normal to not get AF right away... according to when i'm supposed to get it i'm already like a week late, so just wanted to see if it took other people a while to get AF too!

Re: Getting off BC question
Everyone is so different, so it would really be unique to your body. But, before TTC the first time, I had been on BCP for about 5 years. Immediately after coming off, my cycles were exactly 28 days. That lasted 3 months. The next month was 30 days, and the next 31, and the next I got PG. So all in all, I'd say they were regular right away. Even when they changed in length, it as only by a couple days. This time, I've only been off for a month, so I'll have to get back to you on that! I got AF basically right away after coming off, and that was only 3 weeks ago, so I'm considering this to be my first full cycle off of it.

Re: Getting off BC question
I was on BC for 15 years. I had 3 six week cycles once I stopped the pill. I assumed that would be my norm....so then I wanted to start TTC figuring that I had figured out my cycles...WRONG. I then went 100+ days (I lost track - gave up counting after 100 days) with no AF - went on Provera to bring on AF. Took a full 2 weeks once starting Provera to get AF. I then started using ovulation sticks and got a positive on cd52!!! 2 weeks later I got my BFP!
Good luck!
