TTC Now or Later!?

Hi, under secret name/regular poster. Sorry so long!

My heart wants to ttc NOW but my head is saying LATER. Need opinions!

My DH and I are doing construction on my aunt's house this spring so we will have a nice size affordable two bedroom apt. We are currently living with her so we would be living with the construction. It should be done with decorating and all by June.

When I do have a baby I hope to work part time instead of full time which would mean less money. I am the breadwinner although DH does work. Living with my aunt makes living on long island with little money and baby very possible. But if we do wait till June that would mean a few more months (IF I do get pregnant when I want) or more of full time work pay.

I know that it can take months before getting a BFP. Our heads say wait till June because of the following reasons:

All the cleaning and decorating I have to do! (energy, dust, painting) DH will not be as helpful with all this.

I could also benefit from losing another size or two. I am a bridesmaid in early May. If I did get a BFP between now and then I know I probably wouldn't show but probably wouldn't loose anymore weight like I wanted to for the wedding and for the pregnancy and may be bloated for the wedding pictures (its a very close family member's wedding).

I love my job and not sure they will allow part time hours but my second job would but it will be hard to leave if I had to my full time job if they didn't allow part time work and I have so many projects that I am working on throughout 2011 and passionate about. IF I do get BFP early I wouldn't be there in Nov-Dec-ish and a few things may not be completed.

My heart says try now, and my gut says even if we try it probably won't happen to many months from now.

My DH wants baby very badly-and wants more of the part especially. In the end, he'll do whatever I feel is right.

why not throw caution to the wind and see if you can get pregnant as easily as you would like. try it out and enjoy all the extra you and DH will have.
making a decision to have a baby is never easy and it may never be the right time, if i was you, i would start trying and see what happens.
money will always be tight and at some point, you have to see what matters most to you. there will never be enough money or time to do everything we want. haveing a baby is expensive, so trust me, you will never have enough money. but if you feel like money would be really tight if you only worked part time, wait a bit.
or, will your aunt be willing to watch the baby for you if you go back to work full time if you need the money?

Honestly, I would wait the extra 3 months or so. If you were talking about waiting 3 years, I'd say don't wait. But a few months to get things a bit more settled might be beneficial. jmo.

if your ages/health is not a factor at all, i'd wait the few months.

Are you on the pill? If so, I would get off the pill now and give your body time to regulate, and pay attention to your cycles. If you decide to move up TTC during these three months you are partway there already.

I normally would say not to postpone TTC if its something you want, but 3 months isn't a very long time if you aren't mentally ready.

Hi Everyone - Thank you for doing the poll and for those that posted. Re above posts: I have not been on birth control pills for years - could never remember to take them! At this point we've decided that if in the moment we want to be less than careful we can because if we do get the BFP now it wouldn't be bad and later in a few months we will really try for it.
