I do freelance writing and editing, this is what I did before when I had a full time job. Its not easy to find work, and its quite stressful when there's a lot of time between checks.

Re: can't seem to find a legit WAH opportunity.
I'm just really confused right now.
I was planning on being a SAHM after baby is born. However, as much as I want to be here to raise my own child...I also want to contribute $$ to the household because I'm afraid losing my salary will make us really tight in the finance dept.
My current FT job seems to be demanding more and more physically from me at a time where I find myself able to do less and less (lifting boxes, climbing ladders, lots of bending etc.) so now I feel like maybe I need to make the transition to WAHM even before the baby gets here because I am unwilling to push myself past my limits and jeopardize this pregnancy.

wow, this sounds like something that could work for me. I'd have to fix up my basement I suppose but I planned on doing that anyway.

Just as an FYI to your DH, you are still the person raising your child even if you work.
I mean your DH works, so does that mean he is not raising your kid too? I.e you would be a single mom then I guess?
Or, when you kids go to school, is the school raising them and you cease to be their parents?
Maybe it is because women are multitaskers by nature, but I can do other things and still raise my kids and that includes working outside the home

I myself have kept my license current ( with the ongoing classes that need to be taken etc..) but have not re-opened as of yet since having my DC's...Fortunately, we have been able to stay afloat on my DH's salary so as long as we can swing it I am trying to dedicate myself FT to my DC's...
However.....
It is all set and ready to go if I should have to supplement us in a pinch...It really is the best of both worlds....My basement is where mine is as well..
You are your own boss and can take as few children in as you like , for as few hours as you like and can pick and choose even what days you want to provide care....In addition, as your DC gets a little older, they have a playmate(s) and get to interract socially with peers their own age..
You can even do really well taking in school age children for before and after care in your area...Big need for that in many areas

My mother is a medical transcriptionist (the teaching market being what it is, I've been considering this route myself). You would have to take a course first though. But she works from home.

Wow, I was thinking about this in the shower this morning! I was wondering how people find work at home positions. I'm in banking...unless I put an ATM in my livingroom I have no WAH opportunity here
