If you switched REs
How did you go about doing it? Did you tell your current dr you were getting other opinions? Did you get numerous copies of your records? Did you have the records sent directly to the other RE?
Did you find the transition to a new dr to be difficult in any way?
I have several REs in mind that I would like to consult with so any feedback on your experience would be really appreciated. TIA!

Re: If you switched REs
No I didnt have to let them know really. But I did ask to have them send copies of my entire file to me so when I went to my new RE; I had all my history in front of me. They did it with no problem.
I went from ECF to Dr. B. And now Im thinking about switching again. The other day on here, I saw some very positive feedback on North Shore Fertility Ctr. Im curious if that's my next step??

Re: If you switched REs
I switched RE's. I went from RSofNY to LI IVF. I asked for copies of my records, which they charged 75 cents a page and I went to the office to pick them up (although they said they could be mailed to me). The one thing that I didn't realize when I switched was that I had had some tests done at another Dr. (an HSG and blood work) and they wouldn't release those records because they didn't come from them. I never told them why I was switching (although I was kind of hoping that they asked me because I would have been more than happy to tell them).
I didn't find the transition difficult at all and I am much happier where I am now.

Re: If you switched REs
I am actually in the process of switching. I did not infrom the first RE that I was switching. I called about having my records faxed to the new RE and they told me 7-10 business days to do this but I had to fax them a records release form. I aksed if I could scan and email and they told me no. So, I drove to their office to drop it off. In the end they faxed them over before my appt. with the new RE(tomorrow), but they gave me a difficult time and an attitude to do so. If you would like more info. feel free to FM.

Re: If you switched REs
I switched from North Shore Center of Human Reproduction to Dr B. It was very easy - I didn't have to tell them, I just requested my file and was on my merry way!

Re: If you switched REs
I just obtained a full copy of my records and made a copy to bring to my consult with my new RE. I did not tell my former RE, but then again, it was such a huge practice, that I'm sure that my former doctor never even noticed that I was gone.
As for the process...it was fairly easy. What is a pain is that you will likely be required to do a whole new round of blood tests and may have to get records from your OBGYN/mammogram to the new facility. Otherwise...it was pretty painless. GL!!

Re: If you switched REs
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I am actually really nervous about switching. I have been with this dr for a year and a half and I feel comfortable there. But it's definitely time to move on.
I meant to also ask if your new RE had you do any diagnostic testing again?
I hope they don't charge me per page. That will really add up!!

Re: If you switched REs
I went from Reproductive Specialists Of New York in Mineola, to East Coast Fertility, to North Shore and now I am with Dr. Braverman. I did not do much in Mineola so I really didn't have to send anything to East Coast. I did have all my files from East Coast sent to North Shore without a problem. I had a small problem getting my files from North Shore but I was honest with them and they got everything together for me. I wanted to have all the testing done again when I was with Dr. B. He did different tests then the other doctors. Sometimes they do charge you per page which can add up. I know that switching can be tough. I find that you get comfortable at one place and you want to believe that one doctor you have been with will be the one. It is hard but it is where you feel comfortable that matters. Good Luck!
