Well, I HAD psyched myself up to move forward...
..but then Dr. B decided that it would be best for my body to take a month of after my chemical. I was kind of surprised, and didn't fully process what he said, but basically, it seemed like it is to give my body time to recover. He used the word "inflammatory" several times, but my brain wasn't functioning.
So now, instead of moving onto my 4th IUI cycle, I will be on BCP for this month. Yippee!!!

This is exactly what happened last month after my chemical! As it turned out since we thought I'd be doing IVF next anyway, I was going to need the pill regardless.
He did say that after a chemical the uterus can be inflamed.. or something like that... because like you, I was too sad to really comprehend at the time  I hope the next 3wks go by fast for you!!
I remember a few cycles ago I had leftover follicles and had to go on the pill then too. I almost cried in the office. I immediately went to my car and started BAWLING on the phone  I promise it goes by fast though!!

Yup, that's exactly what I did. Poor DH always gets the phone calls with me sobbing on the other end.

I am so sorry. I hate that BCP is something we have to do. I understand the purpose and why, but we are TTC and taking something to help prevent it. The irony of it all sucks! I hope it goes by fast.

I'm so sorry. The waiting is horrible. One time I didn't make it to the car and cried in the office after they told me I had to wait three more weeks when they were closed for the holidays. Not my finest moment.

just curious.. what is the difference between taking bcp for a month and just not doing any meds/treatment for a month? (other than the obvious not ovulating/releasing egg)
Does it make that much of a difference to your uterus?
Have you gotten AF yet?

taking BCP shuts everything down so leftover follies/cysts dont get the hormones that keep them growing. so its like a reset of the reproductive system.
my first month on injectables i hyperstimmed and had wayyy too many follies (IVf wasnt an option at that point). i had to do BCP for 3 weeks after. i was totally devastated. also after my second chemical i had to take a month off also (non-BCP). it SUCKS when you get all psyched up and then have to wait, but in the end i always found that the wait was better physically. it never felt that way AT THE TIME, but after the fact it was obvious.

In 1 year I've only done 3 IVF cycles. That's how much time off I've had.
After a positive pregnancy test no matter what the HCG, Dr. B always makes you take time.
I've cried a handful of times in Dr. B's office, in the waiting room, in the exam room, in the hallway, in the parking lot, etc.!
Nothing new!
