How do you pick a hospital?

My OB delivers at any of 3 hospitals - she said for me to do research on them, ask family and friends etc before we make a decision on our preference.

so.. can anyone give me pro's and con's to the following?

Winthrop
Mercy
South Shore Nassau

I delivered at Winthrop and my experience was great. The L&D nurses were amazing and the maternity ward nurses also. They were so hands on it was great. They treated me and even DH very good. I also think they have an outstanding NICU where DS spent his first 8 days. I will be having baby #2 there also.

My SIL delivered at Mercy by accident since she was sent there by ambulance and had an emergency c-sec. She was glad she ended up delivering there! She also had a good experience.

I delivered @ south Nassau - all rooms are singles...that was the winning ingredient for me!

My experience with DD was wonderful, the rooms are imaculate, and big, and private.

the nurses were great

Visiting hours were long (by day 2 they were too long though)

My husband - he's an admin for NY Presby and a total hospital know it all snob -

So I trust his judgement. He wasn't 100% thrilled w/ NShore Manhassett, but we both LOVE my Dr. - and the only other place he'd be happy w/ is Columbia anyway ...........

My Dr. only delivers at North Shore Manhasset so I didnt have to choose but it seems like South Nassau would be a good choice cause of the single rooms!
