Progesterone
I was at my OB/GYN today for a checkup and while I was there I got all my recent labs to bring with me to the new RE on Thursday.
I was looking at the labs and saw my results when I had the chemical back in December. I had bloodwork done the day I started bleeding which was about 5 weeks. My HCG was 19 and my Progesterone was 0.5. which honestly meant nothing to me until I looked at the reference range. It says 1st tri 4.1-34.0. So, considering I was indeed pg. due to a 19 HCG is this progesterone too low?? Should it have still been within the 1st tri range? Or would it have dropped that quickly?
I am seeing the RE on Thursday and will def. ask him then. I was just curious what your opinions were. This also concerned me when I saw it bc I always spot for about 5 days before AF. The Dr. has always said that was normal but after speaking to some girls at the gtg I know this can indicate a progesterone issue. I hope I am making sense.

Re: Progesterone
I'm sorry to hear about your chemical. I'm sure your RE will review your labs. I am always put on Crinone for progesterone from about CD16-30 as a precaution. I spot from CD18 on and it might be from my endometriosis, but they put me on Crinone just in case. Some Dr's put everyone on it.

Re: Progesterone
to be honest, if you were already bleeding there is a good chance that your progesterone dropped CAUSING the bleeding. not that it was the cause of the miscarriage. when the HCG begins to drop the progesterone in some cases drops much faster causing the bleeding to begin before the beta is 0. so its def possible that you have no issue with progesterone and it already dropped because your HCG was dropping. if you were 5 weeks and had a beta of 19, your HCG had already reached some spike and was dropping.
that being said progesterone supplementation post O NEVER hurts anything, it can only help. but i wouldnt consider that bloodwork very indicative of anything. you wouldve had to have earlier bloodwork to determine if it was a low-progesterone issue.
