Is anyone's baby not going to have his/her own room?

DH and I live in a 1br cottage and there is no real way we can turn it into a 2br. We will be living her most likely for another year, so LO will be at most 6 months living in this situation.

How long do babies stay in the bassinet? Can we get away with just having a bassinet or do we need a crib?

Is anyone in the same situation as us? What are you doing?

Re: Is anyone's baby not going to have his/her own room?

you will need a crib eventually because the baby will grow out of the bassinett. if im remembering right my daughter grew out of her basinett around 3/4 months, and thats when i brought the crib. before that i didnt get one or register for one, because i had no where to store it/put it before beause she didnt have her own room.

i live in a 2 bdr apartment. and have one child already, so they will be sharing a room. i am just dividing the room in half so to speak, one will get their things on one side of the room and the other on the other side.
with my daughter i was in one bedroom, i kept the basinett next to my bed, and had a small dresser for her on the other side. when the crib came in i made some more space along a wall next to my bed and put the crib there.

I have a 1 br - LO will sleep with in our room - bassinet until he grows out of it and then a crib! (and then hopefully we move)

I EBFd DS for 14 months. He was 7 months when I moved him into his own room.

Not sure how long the Chat Icon Chat Icon will be in my room for since its obviously a different situation. But they will be sharing a room with each other for the rest of their lives. Chat Icon

Re: Is anyone's baby not going to have his/her own room?

we have a one bedroom and we are unsure if we will be here 3 months after DD is born or 9 months (we think we'll either move in August or the following March).

We have been slowly decluttering and reorganizing so that we have can a little section of the living room (we are lucky to have a large living room)for baby where her crib and changing table will go. We are assuming that she'll be in our room in bassinet for a while but when its time for her to go to a crib she'll have one.

But the short answer is DD will not have her own room but will have a corner of the livingroom

Our baby will be sleeping in her crib from the start in our bedroom. We are planning to move over the summer into a bigger place, but if we don't, we will eventually move DD to the living room when she's a bit older.

My viewpoint is plenty of people have done it before us and plenty of people will do it after us. A nursery is not really a true necessity for the first year of the baby's life ... but it sure would be nice!

we have a 1br and I got a crib and a pnp with bassinet. The pnp will go in our room and the crib/changing dresser will go in the living until we move. we were hoping to be out of the apartment but did not work out.

DD's crib is in our LR. It is not ideal, but she is 6 months old and working well so far!

We live in a 1 br apt. and our LO will be in our room with us. DH's dad is building us a cradle (he's a carpenter and has built one for each member of DH's family including their own). After the baby outgrows that we'll set up the crib. We'll make it work! My parents did it and they had two in 12 and a half months!

Babies are in a bassinet until they roll over - about 4 months. You can absolutely make it work!

I agree. I would look into getting a mini crib since the baby can be in it longer than a bassinet.
