Re: Just got this e mail from Dr B
Im going to see him on Thursday for a consult about starting my 3rd IVF with him. Where is this new place in the city located? Is that where they will do the Retrieval and Transfer if we are monitoring in Woodbury? It is weird that at the GTG we were talking about this.

Is it normal to be worried about my transfer at AFS on Thursday?
Have no worries. I have been at AFS 3 times in the last week or so and they never mentioned anything. Everyone was just as helpful as ever.
Good luck with your transfer! I can't believe it's here already - you must be so excited.

i'm not doing IVF...any idea if this will this affect seeing him at his office in woodbury? does the insurance thing only apply to IVF patients?
It has no impact on the Woodbury location or insurance for non ivf people
thank you!

I wish this were true...just got a phone call that he no longer takes my insurance and I will have to pay (although discounted) for the rest of this IUI cycle.

Re: Just got this e mail from Dr B
Aetna.
I have to say, I am a little bummed out about finding out halfway through an anticipated IUI month. I came in for cd3, completed the femara cycle and was an hour from the second scan on day 11 when I was called. I didn't want to waste the femara (which I pay $200 for out of pocket), and since I already took it, I agreed to pay for the IUI...
If anyone else is a dr. B patient, did you know about the switch? I am thinking I missed a letter or something...

Re: Just got this e mail from Dr B
I met with him right before New Years when we discussed my upcoming IVF cycle at...AFS...nothing was mentioned about the switch (but he did tell me I can go to Dr Beotzfin for my IVF-had a choice from AFS) but he did not mention anything about switching....
I believe it was a fast decision (maybe our bad reviews about AFS made him decide??)..
Either way I am much happier he is leaving AFS...

I would be too if he continued to take my insurance!

I'm so sorry. This is horrible. I can't believe they didn't tell you earlier. Good luck finding a new RE.

It really stinks that you found out midway through your cycle. You should have either been informed prior to starting, or they should accept the insurance until someone's started cycle is completed.
The only reason I know anything about the switch is because of this board. A letter should have gone out to the patients.

Re: Just got this e mail from Dr B
I thought if you were in the middle of a cycle you would be finishing that cycle w afs? I was also told that he still has a good relationship w afs and that people could still cycle there

Re: Just got this e mail from Dr B
I spoke with Dr. B about the change on Monday seeing as I do know Dr. Batzofin pretty well too. He said that his patients now have a choice of which clinic they want to go to for IVF. He still has a very good relationship with the REs at AFS but he feels that the location of Dr. Batzofin's office is better and that it is more aesthetically pleasing.

Re: Just got this e mail from Dr B
I wanted to clarify- I talked to Dr B about the Aetna issue. He is no longer accepting Aetna from March 1, but he can still put claims through for 90 days from March 1. All of his Aetna patients will be notified and given enough time to find new Drs, etc. If anyone happens to be in the middle of treatment after that 90 day period, they will finish their treatments and won't make them pay out of pocket.
The front desk told patients in error that they would have to pay out of pocket mid-treatment so it caused some confusion.
I had to call because I really couldn't see them doing that.
I REALLY hope I'm pregnant before 90 days!

Yes! I was going to edit my post but it wouldn't work from my iPad. I felt bad because he explained it and it made better sense. When I got the phone call all I was told was that it would take effect right away, but as it turns out that isn't the case. Sorry for causing some panic, especially to dr. B and his office! Thanks for clarifying!

Wheew! At least we aren't getting the boot yet I was affraid I'd have to scramble to call Drs if this cycle doesn't work. I might go for a consult with another Dr. if I'm out this month. Just so I can call them if the next 2 cycles with Dr. B don't work then I can just pick up with the new dr. on CD3. Although, I'm not sure how that would work with Aetna since we have to get an authorization and sign up with a RE. If I'm covered w/ Dr. B still, I'm not sure if they would pay for a consult with anoer RE. I hate insurance!

Re: Just got this e mail from Dr B
When I switched to dr b. I first did a consult with him and as far as I recall, it was covered by aetna.

Ohh ok, good! Maybe the first consult is like a specialist appointment?
Good luck!
