Pedatrician not affiliated with your hospital
Do you or did you have a pediatrician not affiliated with your hospital? I called and they said the dr. would not come to the hospital I am delivering at, but that the hospital would give the baby the proper check up and once I go home, I would fill out paperwork for the pediiatrician I want. Have you heard of this?

Re: Pedatrician not affiliated with your hospital
I delivered DS in Huntington. My ped did not have rights to that hospital. So we used the on call peds for his daily visits while we were in the hospital. We denied the Hep B shot. When I found out we were being discharged on Saturday, I called my ped and made an appt for first thing Monday morning.
It will be the same this time.

My Ped is not affiliated with the hospital I had both my kids at.
The hospital on staff ped did the exams, and we took DD and DS to our ped the day after we were discharged from the hospital. I just called the office the day after the babies were born.

Just out of curiosity, why did you deny the hep b? Is this something I should wait for my pediatrician to do?

There are two very long posts on the Parenting board about the Hep B shot today. you may want to read through them.

Re: Pedatrician not affiliated with your hospital
The dr's at the hospital will check out the baby and then you would just make an apt. with your regular pediatrician.
When #1 was born I already knew the pediatrician I was going to use, however I had a different insurance that she didn't accept so whoever was on call gave DD her daily check up.
Our pediatrician is only affiliated with Stony Brook and I'll be delivering at St. Charles. I spoke to her about it and she told me to give a call once I was home with the baby to make an apt.

Re: Pedatrician not affiliated with your hospital
no problems - we had the on call ped at the hospital and then saw ours after we got home.
Our ped insisted that we refuse the hep b shot in the hospital.

For me personally, its only because I want my ped to administer all vaccines.
