How important is it for the pediatrician to be affiliated with your hospital ?

How important is it for the pediatrician to be affiliated with your hospital ?
I chose a ped. based on the OBGYN recomenadation and the ped. was affiliated with st. charles. We had (1) app't so far, and I am not to crazy about the practice, I can't pin point the reason why, very very crowded, lots of dr.'s, may never see the same one twice. There is another dr. on our plan, 3 min. from our house and I wanted to try there, but she is not affiliated with St. Charles hospital. StonyBrook only, which personally I do not care for.
Should I switch?

My ped is not affiliated w/ the hospital I am giving birth at b/c I went with a referral from a friend- instead of someone my ob/gyn suggested- I think you have to be more happy with the ped than the hospital.... you'll be spending more time in the ped office, no?

My ped isn't assosciated with the hospital that I would go to, but I'm not going to change because I absolutely love his practice.
