Not O'in every month

I have been temping for a few cycles. I had some blood work run and I haven't talk to my dr yet but based on my temps, I O some cycles and not others. yet my cycles are like clock work usually. And every month except this past cycle I got a + on an opk. but the dr said do the temping because its more accurate.

Please tell me there is some way to make my body O?

Other than taking meds like clomid, I'm not sure of any way to make you O.

I'm kinda new at this too, so I'm not even 100% sure they would make you O. They are supposed to mature your follies so they can release an egg.

I use OPKs too, but they say that just because you get a surge, it doesn't mean you definitely O'd. You would need blood test or sono or temping to make sure.

Good luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Not O'in every month

have you spoken to a RE? If you are not ovulating, you can take meds to help induce ovulation. I would go to the RE and confirm that you arent actually ovulating or see what else could be goign wrong. good luck!Chat Icon

Meds will make you ovulate. If you are looking for alternative ways, acupuncture may be able to help.

I don't O every cycle, I think. My OB was saying that due to my really long cycles (32 - 40 days), she thinks that. However, I've been preggo three times (2 ended in m/c, one with Chat Icon ) so obviously I O sometimes. I started seeing a specialist in early January. They are just observing this cycle (I'm on CD23 and no O yet) and we have a consultation appt on 2/15. I'm hoping they intervene next cycle to help me O. However, in Dec I did O and didn't get pregnant so I guess that isn't my only issue!

don't worry, there are lots of meds that will help you O if your body is having trouble Chat Icon

if you think that's what's happening, maybe it's time to find an RE.

Re: Not O'in every month

check out Vitex... I did O but always very very late in long cycles. Vitex made me O on cd14, and that was the cycle I got pregnant with Landon after trying for 15 months. I had a hsg doe the month before so that might have helped also.

I may be talking out of my butt here
( I have pcos and basically never ovulate) , but have you ever had your tubes checked for blockages?

I think if you have a blocked tube perhaps you don't drop an egg from that tube )(maybe that would explain why some montsh you do, some you don;t?) ...Might be something to ask about , and maybe some of the other ladies can weigh in on this

Re: Not O'in every month

Heather im having the same problem! she said im having unovulatory cycles. even tho we did IVF we thought we could try naturally this time and well thats not happening. My OB said to BD from day 11-25 if we could BD everyday it betters our chances. She said if we dont get PG on our in the next few months we have to go back to the RE she asked if i wanted clomid and i said i rather see my RE if it comes down to it. She said its very possible to get pg with an unovulatory cycle just need to BD A LOT! Best of luck Chat Icon

it is completely impossible to get pregnant if you are not ovulating. i think you should go see an RE if that is what your OB is telling you!!
she probably means that you may ovulate late in your cycle and if you Chat Icon a lot you may be lucky enough to catch the egg.. but in all reality if you are actually having anovulatory cycles, where you dont ovulate at all, there is absolutely NO chance to get pregnant. i mean there is always the off chance that you do ovulate, its possible, but having to bank on BDing every day from CD11-25 in hopes that you MAY ovulate in that time is a really hopeful but low percentage chance of success.

if i were you i would def see an RE if you already did IVF to get pregnant and are still not ovulating. i understand how you feel - i had to do IVF to get pregnant cause i rarely ovulate on my own due to PCOS. i have a dream that with #2 it will just happen, but if I find out im still not ovulating after this pregnancy (im pregnant with #1 via IVF), i have no issue going right back to the RE and doing a frozen cycle.

good luck!

Re: Not O'in every month

I just found out my TSH (thyroid stimulating hormonde) is a bit high for trying to get pregnant (it is 3.2 and they'd like it to be under 2.5). This can throw off ovulating, so this may be my issue with not always ovulating. I started on levothyroxine this week. Hopefully it helps! Just wanted to mention this because there are many reasons why you may not be ovulating, and they are ways to fix it!!
