Prednisone

Ok, i am scared shi$$tless right now. dr B mentioned yesterday that i will need low dose of prednisone. I am now reading online about it and I am just freaking out

Did you take it? how much weight did you gain? what is the lowest dose? Arrrrrrrr

I was on it for 3 months. Hated every second of it. I wont lie.

It did take a good month for me to see my puffy face; tiny red pimples all over my chest and shoulders, and my crazy, snappy attitude to kick in!

I was on 10-20mg depending where I was on my cycle. It was a low dose and still noticed a difference. But....if ya gotta do it, ya gotta do it!

If you have to wean off of it, how long does that take that you are still taking it?

Why is he recommending that you take it? What does it help with? Just curious....

I had to take it too.

I did gain weight, but, I also didn't gain an ounce for 3 months once I went off of it after my first trimester.

So, it evens out. Had some mood swings, although, not sure if that was the predisone or the combo of all the other drugs + the stress of IF.

I have been on a low dose for three months now and not a single side effect. No weight gain, no insomnia, no mood swings like I anticipated (b/c of what I read online!!).

Hopefully, you react the same way!

You might be ok with a low dose. They had me on really high doses until the fourth month and honestly it SUCKED. But I did get pregnant, stay pregnant, and have a really healthy baby. She is now nine months and I swear she is advanced because of the steroids and blood thinners. These meds help improve the transfer of nutrients through the placenta.

I started off @ 10 (mgs I think is right)

increased to 20.. and then decreased back to 10

I was on it for 4 months. I was on 10 mg for 3 months then 20 mg for 1 month. Honestly I hated it so much. I gained so much weight and my face blew up that when I look at pictures of myself from that time I start to cry. I looked like a different person. I didn't experience any other adverse reaction other than the weight gain. As soon as I stopped my face went back to normal, thank goodness. Hopefully you wont have to be on it for long period of time but if it gets the job done, its worth it.

I started on 10mg and then I went to 40mg. I had a lot of weight gain, facial hair, and a rash on my face and chest (which still hasn't gone away over a year later).

I hated it too. Im sorry, I actually wish someone would have told me all this before I went on it so I would have felt better. I didn't realize how much my face blew up till I went off it and everyone started saying how I looked so much better. I had trouble sleeping because I was peeing so much from it. I finally got the times right so I could sleep without getting up a ton of times. I took my first one at 6:30 or 6:45 in the morning and then my second one at 3:30-4pm. If I took it later I would be up all night and I would have no sleep.
When I had my first negative Dr. B didn't tell me I had to wean off it, I thought I could just stop it my mom being a nurse told me to call the office and they told me to wean myself off it. I took my last half pill December 23. I still feel huge but Im on a break from fertility treatments so Im trying to get my weight back. Honestly I would take it as many times as he told me and stay on it if it gives me a healthy baby however it's not my favorite medicine.
