Where to begin?
Hi all, I'm looking for guidance and hope. I'm finally ready to lose some weight for good. Its been a lifelong battle of ups and downs and now with two little ones, I really need the numbers to stay down for the long term to be healthy and have the energy to keep up with them - not to mention be a good example for them.
One of my issues is that I set myself up for failure. I can't help but think of this huge uphill battle, rather than in 5 or 10lb increments. I get this crippling anxiety about the amount I need to lose, finding the time to exercise and cook, plan meals, etc. and as a result don't do anything at all. But here I am, finally with a little bit of motivation. Taking care of myself since I've been married, started a business, and having 2 kids, has really fallen to the wayside and so I don't know where to even begin on this journey. Any tricks to stay focused without becoming overwhelmed?
Where do I start? What simple things can I do to start off and ease into a routine? Or I am better off planning to wake up one day completely changing everything? What has your experience been and how do you get over that hump of WANTING to change and actually making that change? Again, I'm trying to push through my anxieties/overwhelmedness.
Would love to join ww but its not in the budget right now, which is another thing that's got me down. Feeling like I have to figure it out on my own and worried I'm setting myself up once again.
Sorry this got kinda ramble-y...I really appreciate any thoughts.

Re: Where to begin?
First and most important- prepare to SUCCEED! If you set yourself up for failure (like you have done in the past), it won't work.
Next, I would figure out how many calories you should be consuming each day. Also important, figure out how much fat/protein/carbs you should be taking in. Once you have a number you can keep a food journal. It can be annoying but it helps you to track EVERYTHING you eat.
Also, look online for new food ideas and recipes. I find it very motivating when I know I have something new and delicious to try.
Weigh yourself once a week- same time/same day. Keep track of that.
Keep posting on the boards- there are many helpful and encouraging posters
I lost 60lbs 3 years ago and I'm currently very into diet and nutrition. I do alot of research on the topic so feel to FM me with any questions!
Good luck!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!
