TTC and new job

Hi everyone, I am under a different name due to some people IRL knowing me. My husband and I have decided to TTC. The problem is I am not 100% happy with my job and I know once I do have a child it would not be an option for me to continue working there due to hours and location. I am going for an interview at a new job which I know will have more flexibility for when I have a child but do you think it is a bad idea to start a new position and perhaps get pregnant very quick. I am really torn and I am scared that they will let me go if I get pregnant while on probation or do I stay at my job and then go crazy looking for a new job while having a newborn. I know it may take awhile to get pregnant and I could be off probation by then but I am just concerned about leaving myself without any job. This new job will also be an increase in pay and I can "move up the ladder" easier than where I am now. Any honest opinions are really appreciated!!

I was recently in the exact same position. Only difference was I had a MC at my previous job but was MISERABLE there. They were actually great about the MC, even sent me flowers but I couldn't stand the people. I then found a new job (while TTC) and was hoping to get pregnant right away. I haven't yet and just finished probation. I now just spoke with my boss about infertility treatments and she was totally fine with it, even after only 3 months.

IMO I wouldn't wait to start a new job for the possibility of getting pregnant right away..If it happens then it's awesome and you will worry then, but you also may TTC for a few months and then be off probation in time! I don't think any job would let you go for getting pregnant right away...If they did, probably not a great environment to work in anyways :). I think you should go for it and hope that you get pregnant right away and the new company is understanding!! You don't want to miss out on an opportunity, Good Luck!!

i wouldn't put off getting a new job to TTC because you never know how long it will take. Of course it would be great if you conceived right away, but some people take several months. You don't want to be miserable at your job for those months.

I agree - I would start looking around now. Also I dont think any job can technically let you go because you are pregnant...that is discrimination on some degree. However they may not hold your job or give you maternity leave...that depends on their policy and how long you are with the company.
