spinoff to venison post
i'm curious what other people's objection to venison is? I've never heard of that before. I get that it may be due to taste as it can sometimes be quite gamey, but from some of the responses on the other thread it seems as if people have other kinds of reasons for not wanting to eat it
genuinely curious here..

Re: spinoff to venison post
i think some people just don't like the idea of eating deer. Also, its very lean, so it can tend to be dry... so maybe that?

Re: spinoff to venison post
I have never tried it. I am open to trying it. but just havn't. I probably wouldnt order it at a restaurant in fear that i wouldn't like it and would be stuck with nothing to eat. so actually, the only way i may ever try it is if someone made it for me. lol.

Re: spinoff to venison post
I have issues with food n general. I have problems eating beef or chicken that is too dry or chewy. Especially when I am out, I do not like to take any chances, so I would not eat it when I was out. I would consider it if I was in my own home though.

Re: spinoff to venison post
For me, I guess it's because it's not something that I was raised eating, therefore it is quite different for me. However, I don't knowck those that do eat it.

Re: spinoff to venison post
I'm personally not a fan of the flavor - it tends to be pretty strong. I did have a sauerbraten made from Venison that was great.. but the other times I've had it were not good experiences.

Re: spinoff to venison post
It's a bit too gamey for my liking. I am not opposed to eating anything.

Re: spinoff to venison post
I am not opposed to eating it at all. I have had it many times. For me it's just a preference, I have had them as spiedies (like shishkabob) and I like them that way. I tried steaks/burgers - it really depends on how it's prepared, sometimes I like it,s ometimes I don't.
(My family has a house upstate and they hunt - so do my neighbors so I've tried it ALOT of different ways - even in chili).

I am not a fan of "gamey" meat so I don't know if I would like it. I wouldn't be opposed to trying it if someone made it for me.

Re: spinoff to venison post
I am actually scarred from vension because my dad is a hunter and used to try and trick us into eating it when we were younger and I think from that, it has always been a turn off. Also, I was a vegetarian for a couple of years and I still try not to eat red meat where it can be avoided. If I think too much about it, I won't eat it
