Life insurance
We plan on TTC very soon and are looking into purchasing life insurance for me. I have read in several places that it is is a good idea, god forbid anything were to happen to me and DH was left to care for our child(ren). Have you looked into this or purchased any yourself recently? If so, would you mind telling me with who, how much, what type, and what you pay monthly, etc? Just trying to figure out our options! TIA

Re: Life insurance
We just recently bough a policy. I actually am a lincensed agent so I was able to compare quotes. First off, I think it's a good idea to get it before you get PG, because insurance rates may change as your medical history changes as well. The younger you are, the cheaper it is. You want enough coverage to cover the cost of your mortgage (if you have one) and debt you have and about 3X's your annual salary. Some people also factor the cost of education into it so that they can rest assured that their children will always have $$ to go to school. If you buy a term policy, it's much less expnsive.. Im 28 and DH is 32 I paid we paid a little less than $400 each for the year. It was a 30 yr term for 500K in coverage. So basically that's a fixed amount we pay every year and after 30 yrs is up, we have no more insurance. But as your life changes, your insurance needs will change as well so you can always revisit it later. (but remember it will be more expensive when you get older) There are also other options that give you a cash accumulation option as well but they are much more costly. FM if you have any questions.
