Discount store brands?
Okay so I recently had a convo with a friend who kept yapping and yapping about a bag her husband bought her and how she was soooo happy b/c usually he is really frugal and he must have spent a lot on it.
I sometimes shop at discount stores like TJ Maxx & Nordstrom Rack. I've seen the bag she got at those stores and based on his personality and the fact that I've known them bothf or years that he probably did find it at a discount.
I don't care either way...good for him for saving $$$,
I'm just curious...
Do you feel like certain brands loose their popularity or luster b/c they are at these stores? or does it not matter?

yep. esp marshalls and tj maxx. although, the tj maxx in greenvale carries D&G, RR, DVF.. ehhh i dont like seeing "good brands" on a rack next to baby phat,paris hilton,and Mudd. lol

for me, it doesnt matter. as long as i like the bag or whatever it is and the quality i dont really care where it was bought from.

It doesn't matter to me - who doesn't love a great deal, but from a marketing perspective it does dilute the brand.

I could not care less about brand names.
ETA: And I think it's incredibly superficial when someone is presented with two identical products, one is a brand name costing $300 and one is no brand name costing $60 and someone buys the $300 one. I just have to . Sorry, I'll prbably be ripped to shreds for it but it's true.

Me too. I'm not rich enough to only buy top brands from top stores. Anywhere I can save $, I will.

doesn't matter to ME..
but i bet if you ask the marketing people at those companies they might not like it as much
i'm not a designer person (which is really funny because DH works at Coach and everyone is always telling me how lucky i am.. poor guy got stuck with the chick who'd rather get a cute bag for $35!  )
so i don't really care what brand bag i have or how much it cost. I'm actually much happier with a deal than the brand it is!
