Let's talk sausage and peppers
How do you make yours?
I sauteed peppers in onions in a little olive oil, add some plain tomatoe sause. Add some spices (oregano, basil, salt, pepper, a little sugar)
Then I add the sausage which i broil separately until they are almost cooked. Delicious

Re: Let's talk sausage and peppers
I cook it the old school (read un-healthy) way that my grandmother used to:
I use a combination of sweet and hot italian sausage. Cut each sausage link into about 3-4 pieces. Fry in a pan of olive oil until browned and cooked through. Remove sausage from pan - DO NOT discard oil.
Cut onion into slices. Fry those in the same oil used for the sausage (add more if necessary) until soft and tender. Cut italian peppers into long strips. Add to onions and cook until peppers are also soft and tender.
Put sausage back in the pan with the onions and peppers and mix well.

Re: Let's talk sausage and peppers
I guess mine is about the same too.
My ex-H liked spicy sausage and I liked sweet. I cut the sweet on long diagonal and the spicy ones in 1/2 or 1/3 - this way we could tell them apart when serving.

Re: Let's talk sausage and peppers
I use hot turkey sausage and I use red bell peppers and italian green peppers and sweet onions. I cut up the veggies and cook them in olive oil and black pepper. I grill the sausages and then cut them up and add them in with the veggies. If I want to make a little bit of a sauce I use chicken broth to help out. It's delicious!!

Yep, this is basically what we do also...but we like it spicy so we don't use any sweet sausage.
...when DH cooks it, he will sometimes add some tomato sauce as well...depends on our mood

Re: Let's talk sausage and peppers
I fry the sauage on olive oil, take it out then cut it up while frying the onion and peppers. Fry them alittle longer all together, then stick it in the oven at 350 for @ 30 mins.

Re: Let's talk sausage and peppers
I usually make chicken sausage n peppers. I sauté the onions, and a mix of red, yellow, and green peppers in olive oil...once semi-soft, add garlic, salt, pepper, tiny bit of sugar, basil and oregano. I always grill my chicken sausage on the BBQ, I find it give an added dept of flavor to the dish. The I slice it up and add it to the peppers and onions and add a little bit of tomato paste and some plum tomato sauce. I usually serve it with some crusty Italian bread.... Now I'm hungry lol

Re: Let's talk sausage and peppers
Brown the sausage whole then take out of pan. Add peppers and onion and saute until sort of soft, adding olive oil. Cut up sausage add to pan then throw in oven for 20 mins or so to make sure sausage is cooked.
