Plans on hold...
DH was laid off today. We hadn't officially started TTC yet but I'm in the middle of what I thought would be my last pack of BCP. I'm just really bummed. We've been having a string of bad luck lately, mostly with money. I feel like it's the universe telling us this isn't the right time to start trying. I hope he finds something soon so we don't have to put this off too long. Every time I think about how much I wanted this to happen sooner rather than later, I start crying. No real point in this post, just wanted to vent.

Re: Plans on hold...
that really stinks. i am sure you feeling horrible. but you never know what might come along. long story short, DH lost his job 2 years ago when we were in the middle of buying our house! we thought just everyhting was going wrong, esp. bc we were staying with my inlaws bc we move out of our appt!! well, we backed out of the house. Within a few weeks DH had a new job making more money and we found a better and bigger house that we LOVE sooo much more, but wouldnt be able to afford before with his other job. for you guys!

we are on edge about DH's job right now, but until we know for certain we are still trying.

Re: Plans on hold...
IMO you should can still go off the pill and track your cycles. that way when you are ready to start TTC you will know exactly what your body is doing. i think a lot of people make the mistake of waiting until they already want to be pregnant to go off BCP, not realizing that you may not regulate or ovulate right away. if it turns out you are normal right after the pill, then at least you will know exactly when the right time to BD is when you are ready.
in addition, this may be terrible advice, but IMO getting pregnant could take longer than you think. so just because DH is laid off today doesn't mean it wont take 6 months to get a BFP. that being said, i know it seems silly to start TTC if he is out of work, but by the time you get a BFP he could be back in work again. and even if you got pregnant right away and hes not back in work yet, you would have 2/3rds of a year for that to happen before you feel the real financial burden of a baby... so all that being said you might want to weigh your options of waiting vs. not waiting. if everyone waited for life to be perfect the population would be A LOT smaller

ITA with all of this... Shaun has been unemployed for a while and we didnt wait... we technically havent been trying for 6 months but i did have a loss so we couldnt try... so its not always so easy for it to happen

Thank you, you have a good point. I'll see where we're at in a couple of weeks. I feel torn between not wanting to wait and not wanting to be irresponsible. Hopefully he'll find work soon and then we won't have to worry about it.
