41% of NYC pregnancies end in abortion!!
I saw this and I was   that the percentage is so high!!
It's so sad that sex education is not better and teenagers are not being smarter.  I feel so sorry for anyone faced in this situation. As someone who is trying VERY HARD to become pregnant and undergoing infertility treatments, I also find this so frustrating. 41% of NYC pregnancies end in abortion- article and video

That is just awful!!!
Between the abortion statistic AND the rate of STD's, it's like what is this world coming to??
Sorry for crashing-I couldn't NOT comment on how shocking and upsetting this is

it says the information comes from the department of health.

I had a friend who did this... she used the plan b pill as a source of birth control!!

I am wondering if this includes D&C's, abortions bc of defects etc. it very well could, which would obviously skew the numbers.

I'm not in nyc, but I would NOT want to be included in this percentage.

yea, this is a good point
I'm not in nyc, but I would NOT want to be included in this percentage.
Did not mean to be insenistive I was just thinking that could account for the high numbers

thats true... i mean technically what i had to do was abort the baby... i was given methotrexate... it wasnt viable so i had no choice...
but these numbers may include a lot of that kind of stuff... i just cant bring myself to read the article

This is truly sad. I think so many people use it as a form of birth control and this is where I'm strongly against abortion for these irresponsible reasons.

That's pretty crazy.
But I don't think it's a lack of education at all -- I think people KNOW but they just don't care or think it will happen to them.
As others said, I wonder if D&Cs are included in that, and it could be messing the numbers up.

there are many reasons women have abortions. age, money, the partner;s wishes, familiy pressures....list goes on and on. i try not to judge at all. there are even women who are happily married with kids who have an abortion due to lack of money for more children. or married and must abort due to health reasons. i did not read the article but i am not suprised at all about the statitics. i know many many many women who have had one abortion in their life. and who knows how many more who will never share out loud for fear of judgement?
i am pro choice even though i totally want a baby with all my heart.
its tough bc we are on ttc and want children....but i am sure there are women here who are ttc with all their heart but had an abortion at one time or another. just my thoughts xoxoxox
