Sperm Analysis
Maybe someone here can help me. I got DH's sperm analysis back and she said everything was normal except for the volume of the sample given.
We were told to wait 3 days before collecting a sample. Well late Tuesday we BD because it was the day after O and I wanted to get it in. The test was Friday am so I figured that was 2+ days and that was good enough. Well I found out last night DH took it upon himself to have fun with himself late Wed night when I was sleeping! He though the sample needed to be fresh, even though I obviously said do not touch yourself until the test!
Also DH hurt himself Thursday the day before the test and was in a lot of pain Fri am, although I made him go anyway (I am so mean).
So that could account for a low volume, but the Dr. is suggesting we follow up with an RE just in case, she suggested East Coast Fertility, has anyone heard of them?
Also the numbers I was given was sperm count, DH had 51.3 and average is 20 (not sure what that is in), color and PH were normal, and motility was 54.0 and the average is 50. Does that mean anything to anyone?
All my blood tests came back great, I am not a carrier for cystic fibrosis or anything else.
Does this really seem like a cause for concern? How do you pump up volume?
Thanks so much!

Re: Sperm Analysis
One abnormal SA is not a cause for concern....especially that your DH did not wait the 3-5 days as recommended. Besides volume everything else seems good. I would ask your Dr. to do another SA..I don't think I would necessarily jump to the RE just yet. Good Luck

Re: Sperm Analysis
Did you tell the dr that your DH didn't abstain at least 3 days before the test? I would think if the Dr. knew that they might want to do another SA. Since that was the only issue, it seems like it might be the reason for the low volume.
good luck!

Re: Sperm Analysis
Well I just talked to the nurse so I did tell her.
I also told DH who is furious and is like "I want a re-test! I know I can do better!". I feel a little bad for him, but seriously listen to me.
Is there anything else that is a natural booster, besides drinking water and a multi-vitamin for guys?
It so frustrating. Sometimes when we BD he tells me if it was a little or a lot, and I notice toward the end of the BD-ing schedule he is more dipleated.

Re: Sperm Analysis
my Dr is sending DH in Jan for this. they told me no matter what the results are, they re-test 1 month later before sending us on to a RE assuming my tests are fine.
Ask to have him re-tested and tell him to follow the rules!
