Christmas Eve/Christmas Dinners

Anyone hosting? What are you making?

We are hosting Christmas Eve again - this year will be small, just my parents, grandparents and us. My sister is up in NY and none of our OOS relatives are coming down....I'm glad in a way because we aren't in the Christmas spirit this year so I feel like I'm just hosting a dinner...

For appetizers I'm doing a foccacia bread (a recipe passed down to me from my MIL), fried calzones, raw clams, mozzarella & tomato and I'm trying a new recipe for mussels that I hope comes out good.

Then for dinner I'm going to put out scungilli in a spicy marinara with bread and then shrimp scampi over angel hair...

Nothing too crazy this year, trying to keep it small since there are only 6 of us...

I didn't think of desert yet! Chat Icon

Re: Christmas Eve/Christmas Dinners

when you guys have a lot of people - like more than 12 where do you seat everyone? is everyone at the same table for dinner?

last year we had 11 for christmas eve. the max i could fit at the dining room table is 12 and that would be tight...so if we ever have more than that i'm not sure what i would do...luckily i won't have that issue anytime soon since we are OOS Chat Icon

do you do folding tables? do you keep everyone in the same room? or spread out?

-Hot mini-puf pastry filled w/spinach or mozzarella cheese & sauce
-Cheese & crackers
-Fresh veggies w/spinach dip

For dinner:
-Eye Round roast
-Mashed potatoes
-Broccoli, Cauliflower & carrots in cheese sauce
-Green salad
-rolls

For dessert:
-Holiday cookies & chocolates
-Whatever my MIL decides to make and bring

We set up the basement with a folding table and we put a top on the pool table for the other table we form an L shape table basically and we have folding chairs and use the dinning room charis.. its a real pita though!!

I'm planning to bring up a six foot folding table and some folding chairs and adding it to my dining room table.
