Could temping be inaccurate?

This may be a really really stupid question but Im curious. Lets say you get a thermal shift and FF says O happened on CD15 (just picked a random day) is it possible that FF can be incorrect and O may have been earlier even if there was a thermal shift in temp?

Yes, it is possible. There are people who don't get a thermal shift at all after ovulation. I've also read that some don't get the shift until a few days after O or the rise is so slight that it doesn't register right away.

I wonder that too, because I'm on CD19 today and could've sworn I O'ed but still no shift. I'm gonna go ahead and wait longer to see what happens. My last cycle was 40 days so I guess it's possible that I haven't yet, but I would've sworn I did based on CM and cramping.

Re: Could temping be inaccurate?

in some cases there is a gradual shift. FF waits 3 days of a temp rise to confirm O. It's possible you'r body was getting ready to O but didn't (it was delayed for one reason or another) but then your temp wouldn't rise.
I think anything more than .3 increase indicates O as long as the temp stay up longer than 3 days.

Take a look at the book Taking charge of your fertility. There's a lot of helpful information on there.
