anyone seeing dr B in the city only?

i am considering switching to dr B.

My biggest concern is that I do not live in LI, have no way getting to LI and will only have to see him in the city, which is once in 2 weeks.

I am trying to think this through and see if this is possible at all and if I will be properly monitored.

Anyone sees dr. B in Manhattan only? What is your experience?

Thanks

yup, I saw him for my first consult in the city. It is hard bc he is only there every other Tuesday so getting an appt is more difficult. I just called to make an appt with him to go over my bloodwork results and couldn't get anything in the city until Jan. 18th so I decided to take a day off and go to woodbury on Jan 6th so I could see him sooner.

I haven't started any treatments, but once I do I know you get monitored by AFS not by Dr. B himself. They send him the info and then he will call you to discuss it.

Re: anyone seeing dr B in the city only?

ive seen him in the city many times, but to be honest i dont think you get the best of him if you only actually see him once in a while. if you are doing IVF protocols or things that need to be heavily monitored, its important to see him in person at least a few times during the stim cycle. also i find that he has been known to cancel NYC appointments more often than long island (which almost never happens).

i mean dont get me wrong, seeing him sometimes is better than never, but you def may need to make it out to long island once in a while because as we all know, our cycles dont necessarily coordinate with preferable office hours. good luck!!

I arranged to see him for my first appointment in the city but he didn't go to the city that day and nobody called to tell me so I showed up and no Dr. B.

Since then I have had to go to Woodbury any time I want to see him except for once when he wanted to check my progress himself and he happened to be in the city the next day.

thank you, Flowerwife. Your response is very helpful.
The thing is that I do not see how I can make it to LI once in a while. And I am planning to do IUI+inj cycles, which need heavy monitoring.

Ugh.. does not get easy.. I guess search continues......Chat Icon

thank you. I had a feeling seeing him in the city only would be challenging.

if you are just doing IUI and injectables you can do it with him in the city, but you would only see HIM once during stims and chances are that he wouldnt do your IUIs either.
you would talk to him after each AFS appointment, usually in the afternoon (you generally have to email him after the appt and let him know you were there so he can check for you bw results in the afternoon). if you are OK with that you can make it happen.

Personally, i'd want to go to a dr i know i could see when i needed to - not when he happened to be around and not have to chase him to get my results . If you can't get to LI easily, then maybe Dr B isn't the best option for you..
I'm sure there are other good options available!

Did you try RMA in the city? They have a female doc there (Ruman?) that I believe works with these issues. FM DRMom, I believe she used her and was successful.

Re: anyone seeing dr B in the city only?

I go to Cornell and Dr. Davis recommended a high risk ob that he works with that specializes in immune issues. His name is Jonathon Scher. I looked him up online and read that he is really expensive. I didn't call him for any info though.

My sister is seeing someone in the city that she loves. I will call her in the am and find out. I think the dr might be up at NYPH.
