The Results
So, I got my BFP! Now I have SO many questions! I called the doctor to see what my next step should be (yes, I am that new at this!). I asked if I should come in for a blood test and she said I could if it would make me feel better...did you or would you go in for the blood test? I also made an appointment for the first sono which will be when I am around seven weeks. (in mid January)

Re: The Results

Thank you! I actually thought about telling the family at the holidays since we will be with DH's family and my family. I am not sure what to do...I may wait a bit even though I will be so tempted!

Re: The Results
IMO - if they are willing to let you come in for a blood test, then I would do it. It's just for added comfort of hearing that your HCG levels are rising and where they should be. Especially if you plan on telling a few people before your first sono appointment. You will be amazed at how long the time will feel when you are waiting for your Dr. appointments.
I was seeing an RE when I got my BFP so I went in for a beta twice (2 days apart) and I can't tell you how wonderful it felt to hear how much my numbers jumped. I ended up going for sonos at 5wks, 6wks (with my RE) 7wks and 8wks (with my OB) and the wait in between those weeks seemed like FOREVER. Now it's even harder for me having to wait 4 weeks in betweeen appointments.
Congratulations on your BFP

Re: The Results
i would 10000% go for the bloodwork but ive had two chemicals so i have reason to know the #s. you will have to go twice before you will know anything. the first beta just tells you that theres pregnancy hormone in the blood, which youve already confirmed with an HPT (HCG in the urine). the second bloodwork would be done 48 hours or so later and will tell you that the hormone level is rising appropriately. good luck!
