cookie mix in a jar?
I bought all the little peeps in my life personalized aprons as gifts. I want to give them cookie mix (or muffin mix, or something) in a jar, so all they have to do is add the wet ingredients.
How do you make this? Are certain recipes better for this than others? Can I just use the recipe on the toll house bags, and layer all the ingredients in the jar??

Re: cookie mix in a jar?
I would say you can't because you have to cream the sugars with the butter before you add the other dry ingredients like flour salt etc. I don't think you'd be able to separate the contents enough for you to be able to scoop out just the sugars first, you know?

Re: cookie mix in a jar?
I did this last year and they were a HUGE hit. I bought mason jars from Michaels. I searched for "cookies in a jar" on www.allrecipes.com and found a whole bunch to chose from. I layered all of the dry ingredients and made tags to attach to the jar with the baking instructions. All people have to do is add the wet ingredients and then bake.
Here is the recipe I used: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Cowboy-Cookie-Mix-in-a-Jar/Detail.aspx
For whatever recipe you use read the comments from people b/c they give really helpful hints on what order to layer things etc.....
